NPR becomes first major news organization to abandon the platform
NPR has decided to stop using Twitter on the heels of Elon Musk’s social media juggernaut temporarily labeling its account “state-affiliated media.”
The move is significant as the left-leaning outlet is the first major news organizationto essentially quit the platform.
“NPR’s organizational accounts will no longer be active on Twitter because the platform is taking actions that undermine our credibility by falsely implying that we are not editorially independent,” NPR said in a statement.
“We are not putting our journalism on platforms that have demonstrated an interest in undermining our credibility and the public’s understanding of our editorial independence,” the statement continued. “We are turning away from Twitter but not from our audience and communities. There are plenty of ways to stay connected and keep up with NPR’s news, music, and cultural content.”
NPR has decided to stop using Twitter on the heels of Elon Musk’s social media juggernaut temporarily labeling its account “state-affiliated media.”
Earlier this week, Twitter removed the “state-affiliated media” label it placed on NPR’s account and replaced it with a label that reads, “government funded media.” NPR’s main account has 8.8 million followers and has 52 different Twitter feeds. It does not appear it will deactivate its accounts.
It had not used the platform since April 4 until announcing it would stop using it altogether on Wednesday.
Twitter’s media relations department responded with an automated reply of a poop emoji when Fox News Digital emailed a request for comment.
NPR tweeted a thread informing its consumers of other platforms where content can be found, including newsletters, apps and other social media platforms.
NPR was initially slapped with the “state-affiliated media” designation on last week before Twitter faced public pressure to pull the label. Other media outlets with the label included Russian state-owned TASS, Russian state-controlled RT and China’s official state news agency Xinhua.
NPR “receives less than 1 percent of its $300 million annual budget from the federally funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting,” according to NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik.
“NPR is instituting a ‘two-week grace period’ so the staff who run the Twitter accounts can revise their social-media strategies,” Folkenflik added, noting that “individual NPR journalists and staffers can decide for themselves whether to continue using Twitter.”
NPR President and CEO John Lansing released a statement condemning the initial designation.
“We were disturbed to see last night that Twitter has labeled NPR as ‘state-affiliated media,’ a description that, per Twitter’s own guidelines, does not apply to NPR,” Lansing wrote. “NPR and our member stations are supported by millions of listeners who depend on us for the independent, fact-based journalism we provide. It is unacceptable for Twitter to label us this way. A vigorous, vibrant free press is essential to the health of our democracy.”
After receiving the label, NPR updated its Twitter bio to read, “NPR is an independent news organization committed to informing the public about the world around us. You can find us every other place you read the news.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also defended NPR against Twitter’s designation after a reporter asked her about it in the briefing room last week.
“Social media companies make their own independent decisions about content rules, so I won’t comment on Twitter’s rules, but what I will say, more broadly, I’ll say there’s no doubt of the independence of NPR’s journalists,” Jean-Pierre said.
“If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of their questions you know that they have their independence in journalism. NPR journalists work digitally to hold public officials accountable and inform the American people,” she continued. “The hard-hitting independence nature of their coverage speaks for itself.”
In recent years, NPR has often catered to liberals with content that regularly parrots Democratic talking points. NPR famously refused to cover the Hunter Biden laptop scandal leading up to the 2020 election, which underscored the organization’s liberal reputation.
In October 2020, NPR public editor Kelly McBride responded to a listener who asked why NPR had not reported on scandals surrounding Hunter Biden, including business connections he made overseas through his family name. That same month, the New York Post had dropped its reporting on Biden’s laptop, which was then suppressed by Big Tech giants Facebook and Twitter, and dismissed as Russian disinformation by numerous outlets.
McBride claimed there are “many, many red flags in that New York Post investigation” and Intelligence officials have warned “that Russia has been working overtime” to keep the story in the news. The laptop has since been authenticated by numerous outlets. Source

Take it from me: I spent 28 years in the mainstream newspaper industry and the Poynter Institute was considered the Holy Grail of journalistic training. I can tell you from experience that at least 99 percent of working professional journalists live in a delusionary environment of their own making that clouds their thinking on almost every issue out there.
The excellent article by Chris Wright below is just one example of how journalists get brainwashed (in this case by the Poynter Institute) and don’t even know it, then spread their poisonous indoctrination on to their readers and viewers. And one of the most common ways in which they show their bias is through errors of omission — they ignore or downplay the most truthful, relevant news while playing up and sensationalizing the stories that fit their narrative or are simply sensational enough to distract their audience away from the really important news.

Don’t believe everything you read. Major media outlets have been caught over the years taking money to print propaganda and slant stories a certain way. Among the paymasters are the Chinese Communist Party, left-wing foundations, super-rich Leftist George Soros, and the U.S. government.
The U.S. government has paid journalists to shill for Obamacare, green jobs, and, most recently, COVID vaccines. Now comes news the Biden administration paid the left-wing Poynter Institute another $23,500 to train journalists how to create supposedly “balanced and bias-free” journalism. Or at least that’s the cover story. The U.S. Agency for Global Media has previously paid Poynter for such training in the past. In addition, the State Department has paid Poynter $360,000 over the years for this training.
Poynter is funded by big Democrat donors like George Soros and Bill Gates. They get their money’s worth. Poynter started a “blacklist” of conservative news outlets it deemed “unreliable”. Poynter was forced to retract the list after fierce criticism. Poynter runs PolitiFact, the supposed fact-checking site that routinely attacks Republicans and conservatives. It has had to retract numerous fact-checks, including one that called the now widely accepted lab leak coronavirus origin theory “ridiculous”. So don’t believe everything you read in PolitiFact, either.
Poynter has urged social media platforms to censor what it deems to be ‘misinformation’. It parlayed that campaign into a $13.2 million grant from Google to Poynter’s International Fact-Checking Network to help fight so-called “misinformation”. There’s also PolitiFact’s arrangement to censor information on Facebook.
All of this is uncomfortably close to the wide-ranging government censorship exercise – carried on with social media and left-wing advocacy group partners – now documented in multiple releases of the Twitter files and in the ongoing case Missouri and Louisiana brought against the Biden administration for censorship. You can be assured whenever any of these people talk about ‘misinformation’, what they’re really talking about is their desire to censor all views they don’t like and to vanquish their political enemies.
The Poynter Institute is not the only journalistic enterprise shown in recent days to be pushing its political views. To push the transgender narrative, NPR ridiculously claimed there is “limited scientific evidence” that men have a “physical advantage” over women in sports. But biological transgender males have been trouncing real women in swimming, cycling, weight lifting, and track & field, and everybody knows it. Moreover, females are getting hurt going up against males. This injustice will not stand forever, NPR’s political views notwithstanding.
Untrustworthy mainstream media outlets have been so bad on other stories recently, they have been forced to issue retractions. NPR wrongly reported Joe Biden’s son Beau died from injuries received in the military. The New York Times and Rolling Stone – also left-wing outlets like NPR – issued corrections to stories they ran about FBI whistleblowers. The Washington Post has issued a number of retractions recently, including the use of the terms ‘debunk’ and ‘conspiracy theory’ in a story criticizing Senator Tom Cotton for repeating the COVID lab leak theory, a theory now found credible by the Energy Department and the FBI. MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell had to admit she was less than precise when she claimed Ron DeSantis didn’t want slavery taught in schools.
These people are so invested in getting their political enemies, they cut corners and misrepresent the facts. Unfortunately, the media has been trending this way for years. CNN kept running stories for two and a half years about the Trump/Russia collusion hoax when it knew there was nothing there. And don’t forget Dan Rather, the CBS news anchor who was forced to resign in disgrace after running fake news about George W. Bush’s Air National Guard service. Left-wing partisan hacks, all. Just like Google News which skews its news curation to favor left-wing outlets, a recent study showed.
American journalism has gone from claiming it is objective, to admitting its liberal bias, to conspiring with leftist-controlled government agencies and left-wing billionaires to weaponize its coverage and wage jihad against its political enemies. Welcome to fascism, the combination of Big Government and Big Business. If you still believe anything they write, all I can say is, ‘there’s a sucker born every minute.’

Biden’s administration previously came down hard on pro-life activists

President Biden’s Justice Department offered what critics are calling a sweetheart plea deal to a vandal who admitted to defacing a Catholic church with profane graffiti, destroying a statue of the Virgin Mary, assaulting a church worker, and resisting arrest.
A plea agreement reviewed by Fox News Digital shows that the DOJ recommends zero jail time for the perp, Maeve Nota, a 31-year-old transgender individual who vandalized the St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington, following Roe v. Wade’s overturning last June.
Nota sharply contrasts with the Biden administration’s earlier approach of throwing the book at pro-life protesters outside abortion clinics.
“It is very clear that the Biden Justice Department has politicized and weaponized the FACE Act to go after pro-life Christians praying outside of abortion clinics like Mark Houck while turning a blind eye to violent felons terrorizing and badly damaging Catholic churches like Maeve Nota,” Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project, told Fox News Digital.

“The Biden Justice Department tried to put Houck in prison for 11 years for defending his son while recommending no jail time for Nota after this deranged trans terrorist badly damaged a Catholic church, fought with the police, assaulted a church employee, and scared the hell out of a little old lady praying,” Davis said.
Nota smashed two glass doors with rocks and spray-painted the church’s outside walls with messages that read, “F— Catholics,” “rot in your fake hell,” “kid groomers,” and “woman haters,” among several other messages.
A church staff member was spray-painted across their face while attempting to chase Nota away.
When officers located Nota, police said he used a backpack full of spray paint cans to smash the police vehicle before turning himself in.
Nota appeared intoxicated during the arrest and was said to be angry about the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe. v. Wade the week before the incident, investigators previously told KOMO News.

Shortly following the event, Police Capt. Darryl McKinney told FOX13 Seattle that the $10,000 in damages fall under a hate crime statute.
According to filings from early March, Biden’s Justice Department hit Nota with destruction of religious property, a misdemeanor that can carry up to one year in prison and $100,000 in fines.
A week later, however, a previously unreported plea agreement between the Justice Department, Nota, and his attorney shows that they will recommend no jail time and three years of probation at the time of his sentencing on June 2.

The Justice Department did not respond to a Fox News Digital inquiry on the recommendation.
Nota’s situation sharply contrasts with pro-life activist Mark Houck, whose encounter with a Planned Parenthood escort led to the Federal Bureau of Investigation raiding his home and the Biden administration wanting him to face 11 years in prison.
A jury acquitted Houck after he allegedly pushed a Planned Parenthood escort during an encounter outside an abortion clinic.
The Biden administration alleged Houck violated the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which criminalizes using force with the intent to injure, intimidate and interfere with clinic workers. source
