Sweden and Switzerland joined Denmark, Norway, Finland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Italy, Lithuania, France and the UK in announcing they will lift COVID restrictions and open up their countries.

(Children’s Health Defense) – Europe is accelerating steps to roll back COVID restrictions as efforts to control the spread of the virus have failed and countries downgrade the threat posed by SARS-CoV-2.

Sweden and Switzerland joined Denmark, Norway, Finland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Italy, Lithuania, France and the U.K. in announcing they will lift COVID restrictions and open up their countries.

Top Israeli officials also announced this week they are abolishing the country’s “Green Pass” COVID vaccine passport for restaurants, hotels, gyms and theaters.

The policy update will take effect Feb. 6, Prime Minister Naftali Bennet’s government said, pending approval by a parliamentary committee. Israel’s proof-of-vaccination policy will remain in effect for events such as parties or weddings.

“To continue the green pass in the same way can create false assurances,” said Nadav Davidovitch, an epidemiologist and public health physician advising Prime Minister Naftali Bennet’s government. “It’s not reducing infections in closed spaces like theatres. It needs to be used mainly for high-risk places like hospitals, elderly care homes, or events when you are eating and singing and dancing.”

Sweden will lift all COVID restrictions by Feb. 9, the Swedish government said Thursday.

According to Politico, the Swedish Public Health Agency said it reassessed COVID as “not being socially critical” due to a better understanding of the Omicron variant, which is milder and associated with fewer hospitalizations.

“It’s time to open up Sweden,” said Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson. “The pandemic isn’t over, but it is moving into a new phase.”

The decision to open Sweden came a day after Switzerland, citing high immunity levels and the milder Omicron variant, announced it will abolish mandatory work-from-home and the quarantine rules beginning today.

The government also will lift health measures at the borders and tourists will no longer need to receive Swiss COVID certificates.

The Swiss government said it planned to phase out other restrictions after consulting with 26 cantons, employers, trade unions and parliamentary committees.

In two weeks, the government will determine the next steps to relax pandemic measures depending on the health situation, according to an official statement.

Options include a staggered exit strategy or an abrupt end to all COVID measures on Feb. 17.

Denmark to classify COVID as endemic disease 

Just days before Sweden and Switzerland’s announcements, Denmark became the first country in the European Union to lift all COVID restrictions, reclassifying COVID as an endemic disease.

Danish Health Minister Magnus Heunicke on Feb. 1 wrote a letter to the parliament’s epidemiology committee stating COVID was no longer a “socially critical disease.”

Based on the recommendations of the committee, the government decided to scrap COVID restrictions.

The “rules will lapse when the illness will no longer be categorized as ‘socially critical’ on 1 February 2022,” Heunicke wrote.

The classification of a disease as “socially critical” gave the government authority to implement broad restrictive measures such as shutting businesses and making mask-wearing mandatory.

An endemic disease circulates freely but is recognized as posing less of a threat to societies.

“No one can know what will happen next December,” Heunicke told CNN on Monday. “But we promised the citizens of Denmark that we will only have restrictions if they are truly necessary and we’ll lift them as soon as we can. That’s what’s happening right now.”

When asked about vaccine mandates, Heunicke said:

“Luckily we don’t need that in Denmark … I’m really happy that we don’t need it because it’s a very troubling path to move that way.”

Søren Brostrøm, director-general of Denmark’s Health Authority agreed:

“I do not believe in imposed vaccine mandates. It’s a pharmaceutical intervention with possible side effects. You need as an authority, to recognize that. I think if you push too much, you will have a reaction — action generates reaction, especially with vaccines.”

Danish authorities will still recommend taking at-home tests when coming into contact with large groups of people and will make PCR tests available to the public. Travelers entering the country will still be tested upon entry.

Other European countries drop COVID restrictions 

Italy, France, Norway, Lithuania, England and Finland also relaxed restrictions, Bloomberg reported.

“We should discuss whether it’s time for us to take a different viewpoint and start unwinding restrictions even with a high number of infections,” Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin told reporters. “I hope that we can be rid of restrictions during February.”

At a meeting in Helsinki to discuss the pace of removing restrictions, the government decided to lift all limits on gatherings and ease restrictions on restaurants and bars on Feb.14. Night clubs will remain closed until March 1. Cultural venues, events and sports will be free from restrictions.

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi’s administration met Wednesday to discuss how to curb restrictions. The government will initially focus on quarantine rules for children and plans to cut the 10-day isolation requirement down to five.

The Lithuanian government is dropping its requirement to present a vaccination certificate in public areas, such as restaurants and sporting events, and unvaccinated workers will no longer be required to undergo weekly testing.

France’s looser rules went into effect on Wednesday, ending mandatory work-from-home rules, eliminating requirements on face masks outdoors and lifting attendance limits in stadiums and theaters.

Norway followed suit and lifted restrictions on private gatherings, bars and restaurants and will not require border testing.

England last week announced it was lifting its COVID restrictions. Beginning Jan. 27, face coverings were no longer required by law anywhere in England and the legal requirement for COVID passes to enter large venues and clubs were scrapped.

The government also dropped guidance for face-covering in classrooms, advice for people working from home and restrictions for nursing home visitors.

On Jan. 26, the Netherlands reopened restaurants, bars, museums and theaters as part of a broader easing of restrictions.

Lockdowns had little-to-no benefit on public health, analysis shows

Few studies, if any, have been carried out to determine whether vaccine passports and COVID restrictions actually lowered COVID cases, hospitalizations and deaths.

However, a recent analysis published by researchers at John Hopkins found COVID lockdown measures implemented in the U.S. and Europe had almost no effect on public health.

“We find little-to-no evidence that mandated lockdowns in Europe and the United States had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality rates,” the researchers wrote.

The researchers also examined shelter-in-place orders, finding they reduced COVID mortality only by 2.9%.

Studies assessing only shelter-in-place orders found a mortality reduction of 5.1%, but when combined with other lockdown measures, shelter-in-place orders actually increased COVID mortality by 2.8%.

Researchers found limits on gatherings may have actually increased COVID mortality. They wrote:

“[Shelter-in-place orders] may isolate an infected person at home with his/her family where he/she risks infecting family members with a higher viral load, causing more severe illness. But often, lockdowns have limited people’s access to safe (outdoor) places such as beaches, parks and zoos, or included outdoor mask mandates or strict outdoor gathering restrictions, pushing people to meet at less safe (indoor) places.”

COVID lockdown measures also contributed to “reducing economic activity, rising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence and undermining liberal democracy,” the report said. Source

However encouraging this news may be, I cannot imagine the Globalists running this bizarre world will somehow retreat to their board rooms to implement plan “b.”

Dr. Meryl Nass was hailed a hero by veterans for helping them expose the connection between the military’s mandatory anthrax vaccine and the serious illnesses they were experiencing.

The 70-year old Maine internist has given Congressional testimonies in four states on vaccine efficacies, deciphered scientific studies for courts, and served as an international national consultant on biological warfare and pandemics for more than three decades.

Last month, the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine suspended Nass’s license and set a string of conditions for her to meet in order for her to get her license back, including undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, releasing a list of every patient she has seen in the past 6 months, and answering more than 25 questions about her medical beliefs, even asking her how she advertises her practices.

Nass, who has been in practice for 41 years, called her suspension “a tyrannical witch hunt.”

“The whole purpose of suspending my license was to scare doctors around the country not to go against the government’s narrative that the COVID vaccine and mask mandates are good,” Nass told The Epoch Times.

Members of the state license board did not return numerous phone calls from The Epoch Times for comment about Nass’s case.

Nass joins doctors and physician assistants in at least 10 states including Kansas, Florida, Hawaii, Washington, Texas, and Arkansas who have had their license suspended or found themselves under investigation by their state’s medical license board.

According to the state’s complaint, the Maine board’s harsh scrutiny of Nass stems specifically from three legal prescriptions she wrote for ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

The patients didn’t complain about the prescription. All recovered from the virus. One complaint came from a Twitter user, another from a hospital doctor, and a third from a midwife associated with the same hospital. The midwife complained about Nass’s prescription of hydroxychloroquine to a pregnant woman.

The board also accused Nass of spreading “misinformation” about the pandemic by way of her personal blog, writing that she posed a “danger to the public.”

Nass certainly does not hold back on her blog. In announcing she would livestream the CDC’s Feb. 4 ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunizations Practices) hearing, she wrote “the same cast of characters who lie, cheat and befuddle us with the poorest quality federal science ever invented, will be back tomorrow. Don’t miss their weasel words. Watch how they try to turn myocarditis into the mildest malady known to man.”

She added, “Watch how the CDC turns those who have taken the Oath of Hippocrates into robotic Hypocrites who merely want to transform your children into SpikeVax factories.”

According to documents obtained by The Epoch Times, the Maine board originally gave Nass until Feb. 1 to undergo its directive that she undergo a neuropsychological evaluation, which was to be conducted by a psychologist of the board’s choice and paid for by Nass.

“Failure of Dr. Nass to undergo the evaluation as directed constitutes an admission of the allegations against her,” the board wrote in its order.

Nass told The Epoch Times that she has yet to undergo the ordered evaluation or complete any of the other conditions set by the Maine board.

She emphasized that prescribing Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine is not against the law, but the state said it is unethical.

In a joint statement issued last April, The Maine licensing board along with the state Board of Osteopathic Licensure warned that prescribing alternative drugs to prevent or treat COVID-19 “may lead to stockpiling of medication, inappropriate use, and potential drug shortages for patients with a legitimate need” for the medication. They drew the conclusion that “absent acute or emergency circumstances,” prescribing the drugs “is considered unethical and unprofessional conduct” and that “it may also violate applicable Board rules.”

“These are made up policies from nowhere,” Nass told The Epoch Times, “they should be [a] wake up calls to Americans—from local towns to state boards—the government is using them to replace the law and the Constitution.”

Nass said she fears her days as a doctor in Maine are numbered and that she suspects the board’s intentions may be to make sure she can’t get a job as a doctor anywhere else.

Nass told the Epoch Times on Tuesday that she just learned the Maine licensing board has already submitted her name to National Practitioner Database, the Laurie-list version for discredited doctors.

Nass, however, is still a hero at least to some in the northern reaches of Maine where she ran her private practice.

Daniel Lorey, a recently retired hospital clinical social worker who worked closely for many years with Nass at MDI Hospital, recently wrote a letter to the editor published by the Bangor Daily News in which he called Nass an “impeccable MD” with clinical skills “second to none.”

Lorey said Nass prescribed him “life-saving medication” to help him combat COVID-19 last October.

“I am quite convinced that her early interventions and timely prescriptions saved my life and limited my hospitalization to a brief two-hour emergency room visit,” Lorey wrote.Source

In a post addressing embarrassing on-air comments from a Northwestern journalism professor and ESPN sports pundit last week (which we covered briefly yesterday), Allahpundit dismantled the woke Left’s moral incoherence when it comes to criticism of the Chinese Communist Party’s dystopian system of oppression.  A morally-depraved talking point emerging among some American leftists is that due to our own flaws on issues of injustice, “systemic” racism, etc., who are we to criticize China?

Any progressive rando can lazily parrot the line that reducing early voting from three weeks to two is “the new Jim Crow.” Those who really care are willing to compare it to actual concentration camps. Maybe that’s the new endpoint on the spectrum of American wokeness. There’s woke, then there’s extremely woke, then ludicrously woke, and finally anti-anti-genocide. Congrats to J.A. Adande on having achieved that exalted degree of social enlightenment, and to his co-panelists on declining to challenge him over it.

My personal theory on why so many of those who preen about “equity” and “social justice” and “human rights” cannot be bothered to extend their virtue signaling to cover China’s truly horrific abuses is threefold: 

(1) In some cases, it comes down to money. Pandering to the woke crew is a domestic business decision, but the underlying ‘values’ are fraudulent. Faced with a choice between standing up for professed principles, versus bending over backwards to avoid raising CCP hackles (thus jeopardizing financial interests), they choose door number two every time. 

(2) Too many on the Left simply have trouble condemning Communists and Communism, and that aversion is heightened with the CCP due to identity politics.  It’s just not very woke to admit that any left-wing government’s actions are evil, especially when the government in question is comprised of people of color.  They swallow whole the lazy, illogical Beijing propaganda line that criticizing China’s regime is tantamount to racism (strangely, many of the same leftists will defend explicit racial discrimination against people of Asian descent in college admissions, thanks to a separate ‘equity’ quirk).

(3) Right-wingers and conservatives are vocally anti-CCP, so tribalism requires some feeble-minded lefties to reflexively break in the other direction.  Even if they’re tempted to join the ‘right side of history,’ as they love to frame it, that flirtation is complicated by the Bad Peoplebeing on the anti-genocide team.  So “anti-anti-genocide” it is. Which brings us to the scandal at George Washington University, in our nation’s capital.  You may have seen some of this devastating art, which I’m sure the Chinese regime considers very angering and subversive, circulating on social media around the launch of the Beijing Olympics.  These images were created by a Chinese artist in exile, and they’re both brutal and powerful:

That email appeared to be authenticated by the Chinese student group (Chinese Cultural Association) responsible for the speech-squelching complaint, which boasted that university officials joined in their taking of offense over the “unauthorized” posters.  The CCA’s statement says that the school tasked campus police with investigating the art, which a ‘Diversity and Equity’ officer described as “hurtful and offensive,” adding that the posters had a “negative impact on the Chinese student community.”  The statement went on to confirm that President Mark Wrighton had personally deemed the art offensive.  In an Orwellian twist, the CCA claims to support free speech, cautioning that its members “do not regard misleading and offensive propaganda as within that scope…everyone has the right to freedom of expression; however, incitement to racial hatred and ethnic tensions, regardless of national boundaries, is not tolerated.”  In other words, they are “in favor” of free speech in the same way the Chinese Communist Party is — which is to say, they are not.

These CCP stooges, and that’s what they are, insist that American free speech norms should not apply to negative views of the regime, while conflating critiques of a government with “incitement to racial hatred.”  This is outrageous and false no matter how you slice it, but it’s especially ludicrous given that the artist himself is Chinese.  

I’m also told that at least some of the individuals who hung the posters around campus are Asian, as well.  “Racism” is a total red herring here — pun intended — and it’s the latest example of CCP propagandists seeking to exploit the twisted pieties of American wokeism in order to shut down criticism.  

To be clear: Offensive speech is free speech.  And what’s actually offensive here is not a Chinese artist calling out his native country’s regime for numerous human rights violations; it’s the numerous human rights violations.  The Chinese government’s victims are Chinese people, including (and especially) minorities.  One must be morally blind, or in the thrall of a strange ideological cult, to miss these obvious points.

It is disgusting and, frankly, frightening that GW’s president chose to affirmatively agree with the CCA’s grievances and take action against the free expression.  On an American campus.  Perhaps it’s not terribly surprising at this point (remember this pathetic display?), but it is nevertheless shockingly scandalous.  A prominent Human Rights attorney adds some context to Wrighton’s priorities:
