A Southwest Airlines flight aborted its landing after nearly colliding with another plane crossing the runway at Chicago’s Midway Airport on Tuesday morning, video shows.

The video shows the airliner — Flight 2504 — nearly touching down before revving back up and ascending back into the air. Ahead, one can see what has been described by NBC Chicago as an “unauthorized” FlexJet business jet crossing the runway.

“The flight safely landed “after the crew performed a precautionary go-around to avoid a possible conflict with another aircraft that entered the runway,” according to a statement from Southwest.

“The Crew followed safety procedures and the flight landed without incident,” the statement added. “Nothing is more important to Southwest than the Safety of our Customers and Employees.”

Per NBC Chicago:

Audio captured from live air traffic control communications, or LiveATC indicated Southwest Airlines Flight 2504 was cleared to land on Runway 31C by local controllers, with the jet, FlexJet 560 taxing for departure and communicating with ground control at a different frequency.

In the audio, the jet was instructed to cross runway 31L, but stopped short of runway 31C to allow the Southwest Flight to land. Some confusion about the clearance occurs, with the controlling then repeating the instruction.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has opened an investigation into the incident.

“The crew of Southwest Airlines Flight 2504 initiated a go-around when a business jet entered the runway without authorization at Chicago Midway Airport,” the FAA stated.

“The FAA is investigating the incident, which occurred around 8:50 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Feb. 25,” it added.

The near miss follows a stressful and devastating month for aviation following the tragicincident over the Potomac River, as an American Airlines jet and a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter collided over Washington, DC, killing all 67 aboard both the plane and helicopter.

The FAA reported two other incidents on Tuesday, as a JetBlue Flight 967 diverted to John F. Kennedy International Airport after reporting a possible engine issue. Additionally, a United Airlines Flight 1544 returned to Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday over another possible engine issue.

It seems that someone is trying to send us a message. That message is coming through loud and clear.  It makes me wonder if suddenly there will be multiple planes colliding at the same time. I certainly hope not – but what are we to think?

Apple’s iPhone voice-to-text feature sometimes displays “Trump” when users say the word “racist” into the microphone. The company claims it is aware of the “issue” and promises it is “rolling out a fix as soon as possible.”

Apple iPhone owners are recording videos of themselves using Apple’s voice-to-text feature, demonstrating that the smartphone briefly flashes “Trump” before switching back to the correct word they they say the word “racist” into the microphone. This is widespread and confirmed on multiple personal devices by Breitbart News.

While the smartphone did not display “Trump” every time “racist” was said using the device’s voice-to-text feature in the above sample video, it did show the 45th and 47th president’s surname three out of five times the iPhone user said the word “racist.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Breitbart News was able to replicate the issue several times, seeing “Trump” flash briefly when “racist” was spoken into Apple’s voice-to-text tool, before eventually switching back to the correct word.

“We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers Dictation, and we are rolling out a fix as soon as possible,” an Apple spokesperson told Fox News.

Apple reportedly went on to claim that its speech recognition models may temporarily display words with some phonetic overlap, before settling on the correct word, insisting the issue affects other words with an “r” consonant. This claim seems dubious as best given the quite different sound of “Trump” and “racist.”

This is not the first time a tech giant has faced backlash from users over its technology that was perceived to be attacking President Donald Trump.

As Breitbart News reported in September, an Amazon Alexa user discovered that the voice-enabled assistant provided an answer after being asked why someone should vote for then-Vice President Kamala Harris, but refused to answer the same question about Trump. source

NEW YORK – The 1 train is experiencing significant delays Tuesday afternoon due to reports of smoke inside a station in Upper Manhattan, according to the FDNY.

The FDNY says the smoke was coming from inside the 191st Street Station.

Service has been suspended in both directions near 145th Street.

Passengers are reportedly being treated at the scene, including 18 people with minor injuries.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation, and 16 people were transported to a nearby hospital.

Service changes include the last stop on northbound 1 trains being 145th Street, where trains will turn back for southbound service. Southbound 1 trains will also turn back at Dyckman Street, their last stop as of 3 p.m.

For travel between 145th Street and Dyckman Street, passengers can use nearby A and C trains or take M4, M100, and M101 buses as alternatives.
