A drug-resistant fungus is on the rise in American hospitals, targeting patients who already reeling from illness.
New cases have been identified in Georgia and Florida hospitals, according to The Hill.
Candida auris has been in the U.S. since 2016, but cases have increased annually through 2023, the most recent year for which the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have data.
“We’ve had four people at one time on and off, over the past few months, and in years past, it was unusual to have one or even two people with Candida Auris in our hospital,” Dr. Timothy Connelly at Memorial Health in Savannah said, according to WJCL-TV.
JoAnna Wagner from the Georgia Department of Public Health said Georgia has had more than 1,300 cases through February.
The fungus spreads through medical equipment that enters the body, such as breathing tubes, feeding tubes, or catheters.
The kicker? Traditional cleaning solutions or disinfectants do not touch the fungus.
“Many of the disinfectants that are EPA-registered and historically used by hospitals and medical facilities are not effective against C. Auris,” Wagner said.
The CDC called Candida auris “an urgent antimicrobial resistance threat” in 2023, The Hill noted, and it is sounding the alarm again
“The rapid rise and geographic spread of cases is concerning and emphasizes the need for continued surveillance, expanded lab capacity, quicker diagnostic tests, and adherence to proven infection prevention and control,” Dr. Meghan Lyman, an epidemiologist with the CDC, said, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“If you get infected with this pathogen that’s resistant to any treatment, there’s no treatment we can give you to help combat it. You’re all on your own,” Melissa Nolan, an assistant professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of South Carolina, said, according to Nexstar
Nolan said the fungus adapts to endure.
“It’s really good at just being, generally speaking, in the environment,” Nolan said.
“So if you have it on a patient’s bed for example, on the railing, and you go to wipe everything down, if in whatever way maybe a couple of pathogens didn’t get cleared, then they’re becoming resistant. And so over time, they can kind of grow and populate in that hospital environment,” she said.
Because the fungus hits those in health care settings, its targets are those who are already sick.
The CDC has estimated that “based on information from a limited number of patients, 30–60% of people with C. auris infections have died. However, many of these people had other serious illnesses that also increased their risk of death,” The Hill reported.
“Most of the patients that get infections with Candida auris are themselves pretty sick to start with,” Stuart Cohen, chief of infectious diseases at UC Davis, said, according to the LA Times. “This is something that can push people over the edge and become life-threatening.”
Cohen said hospitals need to take steps to limit infections.
“The goal is, first and foremost, to keep the people in your hospital safe,” Cohen said. “When somebody comes in for a procedure, they’re not expecting to go home with a life-threatening illness or having spent time in an ICU from a hospital infection.” source
Brethren, I remember when this fungus was rampant back in the Covid days. If the CDC is being truthful about this, then I think it is prudent to avoid ER’s and hospital rooms as much as we can. Maybe urgent care is a better choice than an ER.
GOD IS IN CONTROL. We must always remember that!
Former Pres. Biden often said global warming (climate change) is the greatest threat facing America.
Pres. Trump said it is not climate change; it is nuclear weapons.
Recently, some have said it is Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Over the years, others have said it is bio-engineered pandemics, an alien invasion, a giant asteroid impact, biological overpopulation, food shortages, etc.
As a student of Bible prophecy, I believe these things are contributors, but the rejection of God the Father and His only begotten Son Jesus should be at the top of the list.
Concerning the latter times, the Apostle Paul said some shall depart from the faith (I Tim. 4:1), but they will have a form of godliness (II Tim. 3:5).
The expressed faith of some will be nothing more than lip service.
The Apostle Peter said scoffers will ridicule the Second Coming and make themselves willingly ignorant of the Word of God (II Pet. 3:3-5).
Their willing ignorance reminds me of polls that I have seen.
Many polls have shown that the vast majority of families have a Bible in their home, but they rarely, if ever, read or study it.
Jesus told the church at Laodicea, “Because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold or hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth” (Rev. 3:16).
The Laodiceans claimed to believe in God, but it was a half-hearted belief.
They attended church, but they were worldly minded, and God will not accept that.
None of us are perfect, but all of us need to make our salvation sure, and we don’t need to put it off.
The signs appear to indicate that the Rapture and Second Coming are close, and that will be a time of climate change, nuclear war, pestilences, famine, disasters, and hardship unlike anything the world has ever experienced.
Jesus said except those days be shortened, no flesh shall be saved (Matt. 24:22).
This is why I believe the rejection of God the Father and His only begotten Son Jesus is the greatest threat to America and the world.
Here are other recent events that appear to indicate that the end of the age is shaping up.
One, a George Barna survey (The Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University) of 2,100 U.S. adults in Jan. 2025 found that 60% of Americans do not believe that God exists or that He affects lives.
It also found that about 40% of Americans who say they are Christians said the same thing.
Barna added,
It seems obvious that political, economic, legal, or institutional improvements are not what America needs most desperately today.
Those cultural arenas merely provide prescriptions that address the symptoms but not the disease.
America has many needs, but Barna concluded that nothing short of sweeping national repentance and spiritual renewal can save America from itself.
Try as hard as they can, but no one can Make America Great Again without God.
Two, concerning Iran’s effort to develop nuclear weapons: on Mar. 17, 2025, Robert Gottselig (Director of Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry Canada) said:
Iran is the main reason for what’s happened in Gaza, Lebanon, and throughout the Middle East.
Tehran (Iran) is the number one state sponsor of terror, which issues an ongoing call for the death of America and the death of Israel.
Iran is not only putting itself on a collision course with Israel and the United States, they’re putting themselves on a collision course with the God of this universe: the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
The only question remaining is: when?
Trump said something’s going to happen very soon – very, very soon.
(Update: On Mar. 19, 2025, Axios reported that Pres. Trump sent a letter to the Ayatollah Khamenei urging him to resume negotiations over Iran’s effort to build nuclear weapons. According to Axios, Trump gave Iran two months to reach an agreement. U.S. Sec. Rubio said Trump wants to settle this issue without war, but if Iran refuses to settle it, Trump will act to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons.)
(Update: On Mar. 20, 2025, it was reported that the U.S. and Israel have scheduled talks in Washington next week to discuss Iran’s nuclear weapons program.)
(Update: On Mar. 22, 2025, Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei said U.S. threats will get the U.S. nowhere.)
Three, concerning wars and rumors of wars: on Mar. 20, 2025, the Houthis in Yemen fired missiles at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Israel responded by striking a port city in Yemen.
Pres. Trump urged Israel to cease the attacks on the Houthis and let the U.S. deal with them.
Trump had already warned the Houthis to stop the attacks, and they didn’t.
Trump said U.S. jets on aircraft carriers can be more effective against the Houthis than Israeli jets that have to travel a great distance with a smaller payload.
Trump has warned the Houthis that he will annihilate them if they don’t stop.
Four, following a Hamas threat to kill the hostages if Israel resumed the war, on Mar. 18, 2025, Israeli Prime Min. Netanyahu resumed the war and notified Hamas that Israel will annex 5% of the Gaza Strip for every hostage that is harmed (10% if two hostages are harmed, 15% if three hostages are harmed, etc.).
Israel believes Hamas is desperate to keep control of the Gaza Strip, and threatening to seize part of it might save their lives.
Five, concerning world government: on Mar. 21, 2025, it was reported that 60 nations recently signed an agreement to control the use and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at a global summit in Paris, France, but the U.S. and UK refused to sign it because they are concerned that it will lead to global governance (world government) and other problems.
Some of the concerns are:
It is vague on national sovereignty and doesn’t place enough limits on global governance.
Too much regulation could hinder the development of new technology.
It could be used to increase the tracking of people.
(My opinion: An agreement signed by 60 nations that advances world government and increases the tracking of people is a clear indication that the world is approaching the Tribulation Period. The Rapture would speed this up, and it advances the globalist desire to establish a world government by 2030 or sooner, if possible.)
(My opinion: Globalists haven’t abandoned their goal to establish a world government by 2030 or sooner, if possible. Despite the landslide election of Trump, the globalists are still trying to obstruct his Make America Great Again policies. A staggering number of lawsuits have been filed in liberal courts to slow up or stop the MAGA agenda.)
Six, concerning Trump’s desire to evacuate Gaza Strip: on Mar. 24, 2025, it was reported that Trump has made a final offer to el-Sisi of Egypt:
Take 500,000-700,000 Gazans and the U.S. will increase its approximately 1.5 billion dollars of aid to Egypt, or reject the offer and the U.S. will cut off all aid to Egypt.
(More: on Mar. 24, 2025, it was reported that about 35,000 Gazans have left since Oct. 7, 2023, and 200-300 apply to leave every week. At this rate, it would take a long time for 2 million to leave, but the U.S. and Israel are working on it.)
Seven, concerning the Gaza Strip: on Mar. 25, 2025, it was reported that Israel is considering a new plan:
To fully reoccupy the Gaza Strip.
To decisively destroy Hamas.
To take full authority over the distribution of humanitarian aid.
If Israel decides to do it, they believe Pres. Trump will support them.
(My opinion: As I understand it, the plan is for Israel to take a slow approach to implementing this plan: start out slow and gradually ramp up the pressure.)
Eight, concerning the Gaza Strip: on Mar. 25, 2025, hundreds of Palestinians protested and demanded an end to the ongoing war with Israel.
They urged Hamas to relinquish control of the Gaza Strip.
They chanted “Hamas out” and carried banners reading “Stop the war” and “We want to live in peace.”
Nine, concerning world government: on Mar. 25, 2025, Rumble reported that the World Economic Forum (WEF) has obtained the signature of 14 nations on a treaty to ban natural conception in 2030.
According to the report, the WEF believes “humanity will be better equipped to deal with the challenges of the future if parenthood is strictly controlled, and unborn children undergo gene editing to ensure they are free of diseases and disabilities, including psychological traits which the elite disapprove of.”
(My opinion: We are getting close to the Rapture when a powerful global group is seeking world approval to decide who can or cannot have children. Those that don’t toe the line will be in serious trouble. It is an ungodly rejection of God’s command to be fruitful and multiply, and a great threat to the world.).
Here is a link to the article:
Ten, concerning a normalization agreement between Israel and the Arabs: on Mar. 24, 2025, Pres. Trump said more Arab and Muslim countries will join the Abraham Accords and normalize relations with Israel in the near future.
We probably don’t know, but there is speculation that a normalization agreement with many Arab countries could later be the one that is confirmed – strengthened – by the Antichrist.)
FYI: God does not send anyone to Hell (all of us are born with a sin nature and destined to go to Hell because we sin), but God has provided a way (Jesus) for everyone to go to Heaven (and He is the only way to get there; John 14:6).
Finally, are you Rapture Ready?
If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” Galatians 5:16-18
Clearly, the apostle Paul was dealing with a huge problem in the church at Galatia. Men had come in who were teaching them that they had to follow the Law of Moses to be saved. They weren’t denying Christ or the cross, but were saying that faith in Christ wasn’t sufficient for the salvation of the Gentiles: they must adhere to the Law to be saved.
In addressing this issue, Paul, in Galatians 5, teaches truths for Christians, both Jew and Gentile, that is timeless for all generations of believers in Christ. Context is important, but the Word of God is not limited to time or context. And in Galatians 5, God’s word gives us some very important insights, as we seek to live out our Christian life.
One of the goals of the Christian life is to be fruitful, and all through the New Testament, this is emphasized in several different ways—but its there. And the Holy Spirit is given to every believer in order to work in us, that which will bring forth fruit to the glory of God and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ. From start to finish: the planting, watering, and bringing forth fruit: its all of God, and from God.
I could say here that Paul summarizes everything that needs to be said by his simple command to the Galatian church: four words: “Walk in the Spirit.” But that raises a very big question: what does it mean to walk in the Spirit? The Word of God gives us the answer.
Walking in the Spirit is to walk by faith. We have never seen Jesus Christ; we have never audibly heard Him speak; we didn’t see Him crucified, and we didn’t see Him resurrected. And yet, we believe in Him; we testify that His blood has washed away all our sins; that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. We call on His name, and daily thank Him for His love to us. That’s walking in the Spirit; that’s being led by the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit is to walk in hope. Jesus left us with two wonderful, precious promises. He said He was going to prepare a home for us: an eternal home of never-ending love, joy and peace; where we will enjoy being in the presence of the Father and Jesus forever. And all of that in a city of indescribable beauty.
Jesus also promised to come back and get us and personally take us to our new home. Paul describes that transforming, glorious day when Jesus comes for us; that moment when faith becomes sight; when we meet the One Who died for us, face to face.
“…The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”
“Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.”
As we daily embrace and hope for that day, we are walking in the Spirit; we are being led by the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit is to walk in love. Jesus’ last command to His church could not be any clearer:
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
The apostles were faithful to emphasize that this command of Jesus was of first importance in a believer’s life.
Paul: “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
“Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves has fulfilled the law.” Romans 12:9-10 / 13:8
Peter: “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.” 1 Peter 1:22
John: “This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another.” 1 John 3:10-11
Big question: what does this love look like? First of all, in the regular assembly meetings, you make it your business to meet those you are there with. You want to know their name, and show yourself friendly. As a Pastor and church goer for all of my Christian life, it is appalling how so many “church folks” want to promote and get in the spirit of things: preaching, singing, get-togethers, and etc, but are completely unwilling to reach out to new faces, or even old faces, let alone love them.
Godly love seeks to serve one another with the gift/gifts God has given us: teaching, encouraging, giving, helping, leading, showing mercy, and above all, always ready to overlook the faults of others and forgive them. Walking in love towards one another is walking in the Spirit, and being led by the Spirit.
One final thought from Galatians 5. Your flesh, your old man, will fight you on this all the way home. Paul said that in his flesh dwelt no good thing. Do not be alarmed or surprised when you want to do right, and something inside of you wants to shut you down. In the power of the Holy Spirit, we rise and follow Jesus. And when we faithfully seek to do this, the fruit of the Holy Spirit will break forth to the glory of God.
Walk In The Spirit!
