I lost it yesterday.
I didn’t mean to blow up, but this has been brewing in me for almost a year.
Occasionally, I visit JewsforJesus.org just to see what they are up to – where they are going, etc etc. Months ago, I did a double take when I saw on the front page of their site what looked to me as if they were condoning Kabbalah! I had to read it a few times to make sure that I was understanding the gist of the article.
You know how some websites have a person pop up and say “Hello, what can I help you with today?” Well, JFJ always has that. The first time I saw the piece on Kabbalah, I typed to the person and asked why they would be promoting or condoning this mystical practice.
He typed back an answer that made me want to say “yada yada yada” but instead I just went off the site. What he had said was that JFJ did not approve of Kabbalah, but they felt that because so many Jews are into that, they might be able to talk with some of them about Yeshua.
It reminded me of the “Seeker friendly” churches. “Come on in! It’s fine if you have short shorts with holes and a joint in your pocket – that’s really okay with us!! Just come in!” OY VEY!
The blow up
Yesterday, the article on JFJ front page was even worse about Kabbalah.
Here it is:
And here are some others on Kabbalah from JFJ
Spiritual Secrets? A Messianic Jew Reflects on Kabbalah
There are lots more articles on Kabbalah and Mysticism. But I’m getting nauseated putting the links in this article. So if you want to read them, go to Jews for Jesus and look up ‘Kabbalah.’
Brethren, maybe I’m right or maybe I’m wrong; but I don’t see our Lord Jesus giving His stamp of approval to people who attempt to reel in Jews by first affirming something that we know is inherently evil!
Isn’t that called lying?
Anyway, just wanted to get this off my chest. For those who are reading this – thanks for hearing me!
Shalom b’Yeshua
MARANATHA!
I don’t recall Yeshua or His disciples ever resorting to a ” seeker friendly” approach to sharing the message of the Kingdom! I am shocked and highly disappointed with Jews for Jesus. I was on a Summer Campaign with them in 1995, they were not doing that then! Well we are getting ready for the return of Yeshua, and there are those who are departing from the truth! Shame on you, Jews for Jesus ! Get back to the gospel!
I talked with them twice about this, and each time they felt that they were doing what the Lord wanted them to do. I told them that He would NEVER have them speak about mysticism (Kabbalism) in a positive way!
I agree.:*(
After reading your story I went to the JFJ sight (folks I always thought highly of)) and left them this; “Just because there are seemingly, some true statements in the Zohar (Light), you don’t use that to prove anything, as the true word of God say’s that “satan appears as an angle of light”, yet we know different, that he is darkness. “God, (on the other hand), is light and in him there is no darkness at all”,1 john 1:5, thus why we are to “Abstain from all appearance of evil” (1 Thessalonians 5:22) and brother there’s enough in the Zohar (so called light) to qualify!
Including (and not limited to) the story of Lilith. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Lilith, to then be joined together, never be separated (Mark 10:6-9), contrary to the story of this made up Lilith character where she leaves Adam! Don’t you suppose that, if there were such a character, Jesus would have mentioned her? If not for anything else, but as an example of what “not to do”!
There is no “first” wife concerning Adam as there is only one, and that was Eve, second to none!”
Yes, the devil is crafty, mixing truth with error, as this is his mode of operation. The trouble then is, which is which? Confusion and Gods not its author! Its almost like using the book of Mormon to convert such a one to true faith. Yes, one could, as the book of Isaiah is word for word in the book of Mormon. But give me a break. Speaking of “break”, this is the only way for true salvation to spring forth and that of breaking all ties from the false, in favor of the truth! 1 Thessalonians 5:22. Thanks!
