The Crushing Heartbreak of Watching the Deceived and Fallen World

I sometimes break down in tears when I see the news, or even look at the lost in my own family. The unsuspecting unbelievers, who mock us and our Lord Jesus, have absolutely no idea of what lies ahead for them if they do not repent.

This morning I thought about the times of Noah:

Matthew 24:38

“For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.”

Just like today, the people of Noah’s time had not an inkling of what was to come. They saw no need for the Lord. They probably did not believe that He existed. I’m sure they scoffed just as they do today.

There are times that I get angry at them for the evilness they love. But then the Lord will put compassion into my heart, and I will pray for the lost. I do believe that the great days of America are gone; but God sees every lost soul as the person He made, and He wants them to know that He loves them and that there is a way to come to Him.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

Yes, we are to turn away from these people – not taking part in their revelings – but I believe that we should continue to pray for them. If even one of the people we hold up in prayer would come to Jesus, the angels would rejoice greatly!

The Lord is never surprised

The Alpha and the Omega is omniscient. That is mind boggling when I think of it, but also comforting. I think that it grieves the Lord greatly to see most of this world rejecting his offer of Salvation. But the Word says that He comes to a point when He gives them over to the lusts of their own minds, that they would believe the lie that the god of this world has put into their minds.

Take care that you are not deceived

I’ve heard some brethren speak of hanging out with such people to try to win them to Christ. This is a compassionate thing, but we must always be aware of the devil and his schemes. He would love nothing better than for a child of God to be drawn into sin.

Many of us are so tired of being here

We know that this is not our real home. I have found myself asking God to please take me. Then a brother or sister in Christ will remind me that my work here is not done. That is the reason I am still here. That is the reason you are still here.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Be encouraged, brethren. He watches over us every minute of every day.

  1. Hold on with all your might sister! While I also weep for loved ones, I am reminded that Jesus also had tears for and cares for those who are yet unsaved. I really can feel your hurt and worry. But thank God we have the Holy Spirit who can convince even the most harden hearts. We are told, that as long as we have breath, God can come thru the door of our hearts. While time is short, I believe, my soul also aches for Jesus and His kingdom. This is a time of faith in God’s goodness and the outcome has already been decided.

  2. Abba, our Father takes note my sister. Be strong (as I believe you are) and be of courage there’s a beginning and end to every situation. The END is soon. 🙂 Glory!!!
