A 5.0 magnitude earthquake was detected in western Texas Friday night, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake at 10:23 p.m. MT (11:23 p.m. CT) had a depth of roughly 4.1 miles, with its epicenter 33 miles northwest of Toyah, Texas –– a town around 160 miles east of El Paso.
Aftershocks were detected within five minutes near the same location, according to the USGS.
The National Weather Service in El Paso said on social media it felt an earthquake. Tremors were also reportedly felt in New Mexico cities, including Carlsbad, Roswell and Las Cruces.
There are no immediate reports of injuries in the area. CNN has reached out to the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office in Texas for further details.

Not to worry, in the northwest we have the Cascades & many volcanos like Mt St Helens therein. We have them off our coast under water & E/quakes too. I remember a couple of real doozies. All these goodies God can use to get our attention. Thinking sanctuary cities (I reside in one)…transgender acceptance, lesbianism, queerness for public schools propagandizing kids who are told not to tell parents, abortion (we love to kill the babies too), amorality as in go by “feelings” churches too, so any god u like is ok, especially the unholy trinity of Me, Myself and I.
Absolutes are in the state’s pantheistic hands & change according to political climates. Our public schools don’t like the Bible & the state “protects” kids from the 10 commandments & their possible “influence”. An out of state kid seeking to switch sexes can come into Wa & be “protected” from informed parents who know it’s all sinful, destructive devilish baloney but can go to jail trying to rescue THEIR kid. My illustrious state gov owns your kids.
We have a new gov who is a gruesome Newsome disciple which should speed up “J” time from the Lord. Anyway a few of us citizens see the light but not many more however. The road is wide leading to destruction. Whatever happens, I am saved by the blood of Jesus & will dwell in the house of the Lord forever….how about you? Are you truly born again…fit for Heaven or a product of a quick sinner’s prayer “everyone bow their head, no one looking around” that bears no or tiny fruit? Have you ever examined yourself to see if you are truly in the faith or just playing church for appearance’s sake on Easter & Christmas?
Time is short…today is the day of salvation. See John 3:16 & the word “believe” means total TRUST & servitude for life in and for the Lord Jesus Christ not demonic type belief which shows only demonic “fruit”. If u are smart, you’ll get right with God, Who cannot lie & defeated death by His sinless Son’s shedding of blood on the cross & resurrection so u can have real & eternal peace from Him.
