Back on October 25th I went to the ER with a severe bladder infection. I was given a script for antibiotics which knocked the infection out of me – and that was that – or so I thought………

A couple of weeks ago, I was having very sharp pains in my stomach which radiated to my back.  On the 19th of this month I went to an urgent care place about these pains.

The doctor there looked at my results from the ER visit on October 25 and was alarmed. She showed me that a test was done called ‘Lipase’ and it was 714. Normal for this test is 16-65. The ER had discharged me without mentioning the Lipase test. The doctor at urgent care insisted that I go back to the ER. She said this was very serious.

Tim and I went back to the Hopkins ER and they did what seemed like every test known to man.  But after a few hours, the attending ER doctor spoke to us and said that he was very upset that they had discharged me on October 25th without addressing the Lipase number. He said that number showed severe Pancreatitis.

I was told that my Pancreatitis came on because of gallbladder stones which had passed into my pancreas. The attending told me that he made an appointment with a general surgeon for the 20th and I had to keep this appointment.

I saw the surgeon. He told me that he needed to take my gallbladder out. I asked if this could wait till after the holidays. He said yes but if I had another attack, he would meet me in the ER and remove my gallbladder on an emergency basis.  I agreed.

My Lipase has come down to 26 as of the 19th which is good news, but this morning I’m not feeling great.

Would you please pray that I will know when and if I should return to the ER?
