Secret Service director called on to resign: ‘Extreme unbelievable negligence or something much worse’

From bizpacreview.com

Former President Donald J. Trump survived an assassination attempt but there are questions about what could have been the most consequential Secret Service failure in history.

On Saturday, the soon-to-be Republican party nominee was speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania when shots rang out, grazing Trump’s ear and striking and killing a rally attendee as a shooter opened fire from an elevated position on the roof of a manufacturing plant 130 yards from the stage.

It was an inexplicable failure for an agency that now finds itself in the crosshairs of an incident that came a hairsbreadth from being the first successful assassination of a presidential candidate since Democrat Robert F. Kennedy was killed in 1968.

“Secret service failed. Shooter was high ground, took way too long to get him out and he was exposed if there was a second shooter. That was an inch away from his assassination.” a former senior federal law enforcement source told Fox News.

“Source also points out that when Trump was placed in the car, they used the door facing the crowd – exposing him longer: ‘this was not a good, trained plan,’” according to Fox News Senior White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich.

The massive failure to provide security for Trump is being laid at the doorstep of Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle, a former security chief for PepsiCo who somehow was tapped for the important job of heading up the agency responsible for the protection of the president of the United States.

Among those calling for Cheatle’s resignation after the nearly catastrophic security failure was billionaire SpaceX/Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Mush who shared a video of an eyewitness who told a BBC reporter that he had seen the gunman and repeatedly tried to warn Secret Service but was ignored.

“The head of the Secret Service and the leader of this security detail should resign,” Musk wrote on Saturday after the failed assassination attempt.

Conservative commentator Dan Bongino who is a former Secret Service agent also called for Cheatle to resign.

Bongino also noted that Cheatle has denied the Trump team’s request for added Secret Service protection, a necessity due to the swirling atmosphere of hatred that has been fomented by President Joe Biden, his fellow Democrats, and the media.

“Actively communicating with a number of former colleagues from the Secret Service about the assassination attempt. This is an obviously catastrophic failure and NO excuses should be made, or even attempted,” Bongino added in another post. “The failures are profound and questions must be answered about ground surveillance, air surveillance, post-stander support, and counter-sniper advance work and response. We have ONE job, and we came within inches of a deadly failure today. An uneventful failure is NOT a success.”

CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp went one step further, calling for a public investigation.

At the very least, Cheatle will be asked some serious questions from Republicans in Congress.

Others are wondering if it’s merely incompetence or something much more nefarious.

Fortunately for Trump, he didn’t fall victim to Secret Service dropping the ball, at least not this time.

BlackRock pulls 2022 TV ad Featuring Trump Shooter

From foxnews.com

lackRock pulled its advertisement from a few years ago that showed Thomas Matthew Crooks, the suspect authorities believe attempted to assassinate former President Trump over the weekend.

Images of Crooks’ appearance in the ad began circulating online after he was identified by officials as the gunman that fired several shots at a Trump campaign rally on Saturday, striking the upper part of Trump’s right ear while the former president was speaking to rallygoers.

One attendee, Corey Comperatore, 50, a former fire chief of Buffalo Township, was killed, and two others – identified by Pennsylvania State Police as David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74 – were injured in the shooting.

The FBI confirmed that Crooks was shot dead.

Crooks, 20, was from Bethel Park, a Pittsburgh suburb about an hour south from where the assassination attempt took place.

BlackRock said its 2022 ad featured a teacher from Bethel Park High School, where Crooks graduated from the same year. Crooks was one of several students that “briefly appeared in the background.”

“The assassination attempt on former President Trump is abhorrent,” BlackRock said in a statement. “We’re thankful former President Trump wasn’t seriously injured, and thinking about all the innocent bystanders and victims of this awful act, especially the person who was killed.”

BlackRock said it would make all video footage taken for the ad available to the authorities, and it has pulled the video down “out of respect for the victims.”

There are many pieces to the puzzle and they seem to be coming together.

Secret Service Says RNC Security Plan ‘Strengthened’ In Wake of Assassination Attempt

OH……So this means that the security detail for the RNC will NOT be redirected to Jill Biden?  That’s so reassuring……….NOT!

The U.S. Secret Service director said in a statement that the agency is confident in the security plan put in place for the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this week. The agency said security has been strengthened in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on July 13.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said in the July 15 statement that additional security enhancements were provided to former President Trump’s security detail in June and that the agency had also implemented changes to his security detail since the assassination attempt to “ensure his continued protection for the convention and the remainder of the campaign.”

The director extended her condolences to the family and friends of Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old father and firefighter who was killed protecting his family at the Trump rally. She also extended condolences to the others injured in the shooting, which she called a “senseless act of violence.”

“I am confident in the security plan our Secret Service RNC coordinator and our partners have put in place, which we have reviewed and strengthened in the wake of Saturday’s shooting,” Ms. Cheatle said.

“The security plans for National Special Security Events are designed to be flexible. As the conventions progress, and in accordance with the direction of the President, the Secret Service will continuously adapt our operations as necessary in order to ensure the highest level of safety and security for convention attendees, volunteers and the City of Milwaukee.”

It is the first statement from the director since the July 13 shooting at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Ms. Gibson-Cicchino said on July 14 that the agency was not anticipating any changes to its operational security plans for this event, adding that the RNC, the Secret Service, and other law enforcement partners had been working on the security plan for more than a year.

Ms. Cheatle said that NSSE plans are designed to “be dynamic in order to respond to a kinetic security environment and the most up-to-date intelligence from our partners.”

“The Secret Service is tasked with the tremendous responsibility of protecting the current and former leaders of our democracy. It is a responsibility that I take incredibly seriously, and I am committed to fulfilling that mission,” Ms. Cheatle said.

Former President Trump in the wake of his assassination attempt thanked the Secret Service and other law enforcement personnel for their quick response to the shooting.

The FBI named a 20-year-old man of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the suspect involved in the assassination attempt.

President Biden, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), and other federal officials have called for answers regarding the security failure. Congressional hearings have been announced in the wake of the shooting to determine how the shooter was able to get so close to former President Trump.

Father in heaven, I pray for Your supernatural protection for everyone attending the RNC. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Trump Would-Be Assassin Rejected from High School Shooting Club: ‘Comically Bad’ Shot

From breitbart.com

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old Pennsylvania man who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump on Saturday, reportedly got rejected from his high school shooting club for being a “comically bad” shot.

The shooter, who killed a Trump supporter and wounded two others while only grazing the former president’s ear during a rally, reportedly has a less-than-stellar record with shooting accuracy. Per the New York Post:

A few years before the assassination attempt, Crooks tried out for the rifle team at Bethel Park High School, two former classmates told The Post.

The shooting range at the school is 50 feet long by 21 feet wide, with seven ranges.

Crooks once fired from the seventh lane — the closest lane to the right wall — and hit the left wall, completely missing every target on the back wall. He missed his target by close to 20 feet, Murphy recalled.

Murphy referred to Crooks as a “comically bad shot.” Another classmate said he liked to wear hunting outfits to class and that he “couldn’t shoot at all.”

“He was a terrible shot,” the classmate said. “Our old coach was a stickler, he trained Navy marksmen, so he knew people. He knew when someone’s not the greatest person.”

“We noticed a few things Thomas said and how he interacted with other people … He said some things that were kind of concerning,” the classmate added. “You know, obviously, we’re using guns in a school setting so you need to be very careful in that regard.”

Without elaborating, the classmate even said that Crooks made “some crass jokes that weren’t appropriate when there are firearms in the school setting.”

The motives for Crooks carrying out an assassination attempt on the former president remain unknown at this time.

THE TRUTH KEEPS ON COMING IN!  That’s what we have been praying!

Father in heaven, thank You for divulging the truth to the public. I pray that there will be arrests made as you bring everything to light. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
