Some of the activists in protests backing the goals of the jihadist group Hamas on American college campuses received support and training in Cuba, ADN America reported Tuesday.

ADN America named Manolo De Los Santos, a far-left activist believed to have incited the storming of Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall in late April, as having deep ties to the Castro regime and its figurehead president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, with a long track record of political activities in Cuba spanning multiple years.

De Los Santos is the executive director of The People’s Forum, a far-left organization that is highly sympathetic to the Cuban and Chinese Communist Parties and which describes itself as “an incubator of movements for the working class and marginalized communities.”

ADN America noted that its report coincides with a report that the New York Post published on Sunday that said that The People’s Forum has been urging anti-Israel protesters at campuses to “rekindle the bloody Black Lives Matter riots of summer of 2020.”

The People’s Forum is one of several far-left organizations at the forefront of the wave of anti-Israel protests that erupted following Hamas’s unprecedented October 7 attack on Israel that left more than 1,200 dead and hundreds taken hostage.

ADN America reported that The People’s Forum organized a protest in Times Square, New York, one day after the October 7 attack, where attendees celebrated Hamas’s actions while waving signs that contained antisemitic slogans and imagery.

According to a 2015 interview, De Los Santos was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the South Bronx, New York, with his family when he was five years old. The far-left activist reportedly first visited Cuba in 2006 through Pastors for Peace, an organization that is part of the National Network on Cuba (NNOC), a coalition of pro-Castro regime organizations in the United States.

At Cuba’s Matanzas Evangelical Seminary, De Los Santos conducted Marxist-driven liberation theology studies — an ideology that experts describe as a creation of the Russian KGB “to enroll Latin leaders” in the erstwhile Soviet Union’s espionage operations.

“[De Los Santos] has been traveling to Cuba since at least 2009 and has been prominently featured in the Cuban-regime press for almost a decade,” ADN America stated in its report.

“Reports indicate that, back in the U.S., he organized rallies in the U.S. to support the Cuban regime and that he is a staunch admirer of Fidel Castro,” the report continued.

“Fidel, for us, is a great example,” De Los Santos said in 2016. “I wish all leaders were like him and many of them had the dignity and integrity of the Commander.”

Cuba’s figurehead president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, received De Los Santos and other far-left activists in July 2022 with the aim of “elaborating a new consensus, based on theory and according to the different experiences of social movements and countries, on the path of socialism.”

In May 2023, more than 300 activists from the United States traveled to Cuba with The People’s Forum to meet with Díaz-Canel as part of Cuba’s communist “May Day” activities. Palestinian flags can be seen in the photos of the event that the Cuban Communist Party’s official newspaper, Granma, published.

“Our commitment upon returning will not only be to raise our voice but to organize a different political project in the United States, and we will always be by Cuba’s side,” De Los Santos said in an interview at the time.

The far-left People’s Forum received a $12-million donation from pro-China tech mogul Neville Roy Singham through the People’s Support Foundation (PSF). Singham has been a major financial backer of the ongoing anti-Israel protests in the United States.

In addition to De Los Santos, ADN Cuba mentions communist activist Onyesonwu Chatoyer as a member of both the Castro Regime-linked Venceremos Brigade and the All African People’s Revolutionary Party (A-APRP).

“There has never been a moment where we questioned the necessity of a struggle to smash Zionism,” Chatoyer said in a March interview.

“Our opposition to Zionism is about solidarity with Palestine and all peoples struggling against settler-colonialism and imperialism,” she asserted at another point of the interview.

ADN noted that the Peace Action Network, another far-left organization currently organizing anti-Israel rallies, has taken some of its activists to “solidarity trips” to Cuba in the past. source

Prior to ground operations, Israeli fighter jets executed coordinated airstrikes, targeting approximately 100 designated locations across the area

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the elimination of approximately 30 Hamas terrorists in eastern Rafah as part of their ongoing operation in the southern Gaza city. 

The military operation, which commenced on Monday, has seen significant advancements, according to the IDF.

The 162nd Division of the IDF has been instrumental in neutralizing these terrorists, marking a substantial blow to Hamas forces in the region, according to the IDF statement. 

Prior to ground operations, Israeli fighter jets executed coordinated airstrikes, targeting approximately 100 designated locations across the area.

Furthermore, the 401st Brigade Combat Team has assumed operational control over the Rafah crossing on the Gazan side. 

This strategic maneuver aims to suppress Hamas terror infrastructure surrounding the crossing, allowing for targeted raids on suspicious buildings from which Hamas terrorists have been firing at Israeli forces.

Presently, IDF troops are actively engaged in search and raid missions within the area, targeting locations identified as potential threats.

The Israeli government is declining to confirm or deny that the Biden administration is withholding weapons from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), as reported in numerous American and Israeli news outlets this week.

As Breitbart News has noted, several news outlets have confirmed that the U.S. is withholding 3,500 bombs from Israel, including 500- and 2,000-pound bombs.

Israeli government spokesman Avy Hyman said that he had seen “reports coming out from unnamed sources on the American side,” but said: “I do not have anything to add on these reports.”

Earlier this week, Israel had not even acknowledged the reports.

Hyman also said that Israel’s efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza continued, regardless of the Israeli offensive in Rafah. “Despite their best efforts, both Kerem Shalom, and the Erez Crossing, which was destroyed by Hamas on October 7, are open,” Hyman said, noting that these were just two of the nine entry points for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.

He added that Israel continued to receive reports of aid “sitting” on the Gaza side of the border, undistributed.

Hyman noted that Israeli military was active in “specific areas” of eastern Rafah. He said that Israeli control of the Rafah crossing, which the IDF took on Monday, would not prevent humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip, but would instead stop Hamas from smuggling weapons into the territory.

He also reiterated Israel’s goals: “Our war aims remain the same, destroy Hamas, bring home the hostages, and ensure that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.”

Commenting on Israeli control of the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphi route along Gaza’s border with Egypt, Hyman agreed that military advances increased Israeli leverage in hostage talks, which have resumed in Cairo, Egypt, after Hamas claimed it would accept a ceasefire.

“We will continue to keep up the military pressure on Hamas,” he said, adding that “[w]e needed both the military pressure and the diplomatic channel” to achieve November’s hostage deal.

“We can see that they feel” military pressure, Hyman said, adding that Israel hoped and prayed for progress on a deal “within a framework that is acceptable to Israel. Obviously there can be no talk of ending the war and keeping Hamas in power.” source

Israeli officials said Monday that Biden administration officials had secretly worked with mediators, without Israel’s knowledge, to craft a Hamas “agreement” to ceasefire terms in an attempt to deter an attack on Hamas in Rafah.

On Monday, as Breitbart News reported, with Israel beginning its operation in Rafah by warning civilians to leave, Hamas suddenly announced that it agreed to a “ceasefire” — on unfamiliar terms that Israel had not actually offered.

Israel, regarding the move as a bluff aimed at the international media in an attempt to pressure Israel to abandon the operation, decided to send junior-level diplomats to Cairo, Egypt, to explore talks, while continuing to fight in Rafah.

The White House seized on the announcement of an agreement by Hamas, though it would not say (or speculate) what was in the agreement itself, puzzling reporters.

Israeli officials claim the Biden administration knew about the latest hostage and ceasefire deal proposal Egypt and Qatar negotiated with Hamas, but didn’t brief Israel before Hamas announced it accepted it on Monday. When the Israelis read Hamas’ response, they were surprised to see it contained “many new elements” that were not part of the previous proposal that Israel agreed on and that was presented to Hamas by the U.S., Egypt and Qatar ten days ago, the officials said.

The officials claimed CIA director Bill Burns and other Biden administration officials who are involved in the negotiations knew about the new proposal but didn’t tell Israel.

The Times of Israel later confirmed Ravid’s reporting in Axios.

The Biden administration has publicly opposed an Israeli attack on Rafah for months, ostensibly to protect civilians but also likely to preserve Hamas as leverage to compel Israel to accept a two-state solution as an outcome of the war.

The sticking points in negotiations on a ceasefire and hostage deal are that Israel refuses to agree to end the war, and Hamas is trying to have dead bodies count toward the total of 33 hostages to be released in the first stage of a truce.

Israeli spokesman David Mencer declined to comment on these reports on Tuesday. However, he said Hamas’s claim had been one of desperation. “What you saw last night was Hamas trying to save its skin, but it won’t work.” source
