The White House has banned religious-themed designs from the Easter egg art event.

Religious Easter egg designs will not be accepted from National Guard children for the 2024 “Celebrating National Guard Families” art event at the White House.

Along with the yearly Easter Egg Roll, the White House celebrates Easter with an art competition. A contest flyer specifies that an Easter egg design entry “must not include any questionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements.”

“As part of the White House Easter traditions, America’s Egg Farmers—for nearly 50 years—have proudly presented an intricately decorated Commemorative Easter Egg to the First Lady of the United States. In 2021, the White House expanded on this long-standing tradition by displaying youth-designed Easter eggs in the White House East Colonnade,” the flyer explains. “On behalf of First Lady Jill Biden, the Adjutants General of the National Guard are asking youth from National Guard families across the United States and all U.S. territories to submit artwork inspired by the theme ‘Celebrating our Military Families.’”

Kids are asked to paint eggs with pictures from their own lives. “Selected designs representing the unique experience and stories of National Guard children will be brought to life on real hen eggs by talented egg artists from across the country and displayed at the White House this Easter and Passover season,” the advertisement states.

Additionally, content that encourages “bigotry, racism, hatred, or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age” cannot be used in educational settings by children.

Children will paint a few chosen designs on actual eggs, which will be on display at the White House.

COME LORD JESUS!

PLEASE COME FOR US SOON!!

HOW CAN I BE SAVED?

HE LIVES! by William Oldham

This weekend, Christians around the world remember and celebrate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The first column I ever wrote for the Sapulpa Herald was about Christmas: I wanted to make plain what Christmas was all about. Don Diehl was the editor and he printed it. The second column came three months later; it was about Easter: I wanted to make plain what Easter was all about.

Easter is all about Jesus Christ. It is about who Jesus was, is and shall be. It is about what He did, what He is doing, and what He is going to do. It is about where Jesus came from, where He is, and where He’s going to be. There is nothing new in this column today. This column is dedicated to the glory of God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

The Scriptures tell us that Jesus was the second Person of the Trinity, the Word of God: He had no beginning, He always was. They tell us that He was born of the virgin Mary and God, as a real man; He was true God and true man. As a man Jesus lived on earth approximately 33 years and was crucified. Three days later, He arose from the dead, and forty days later He sat down at the right hand of God. Today, Jesus is Lord over everything in heaven and on earth; tomorrow, Jesus is coming to rule the world as the King of kings, and Lord of lords.

The Scriptures tell us that in the creation, “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” John 1:3 They tell us that Jesus came into this world, “…Taking the form of a slave, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:7-8 On the cross, Jesus took the place of sinners, and by His own precious blood, He washed away all our sins.

Today, according to the Scriptures, Jesus sits at God’s right hand, praying for and interceding to the Father, for all those who belong to Him. Jesus is also preparing a home for His people, where they will live with Him and the Father forever. Tomorrow, Jesus is returning to do two things: first, to gather to Himself all His people; those who have died in Christ, and those who are still living. God has prepared new, immortal, incorruptible bodies, which they will all receive at their resurrection day.

Secondly, Jesus is coming to destroy all the earthly kingdoms, and establish His kingdom. Concerning that Day, the prophet foretold, “And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be—“The LORD is one,” And His name one.” Zechariah 14:9  On that Day, “…The kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.” Daniel 7:27

Jesus Christ came from heaven; He was sent by God to redeem a lost world. It was His Father’s will that His beloved Son should be the perfect sacrifice for fallen man. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Today, Jesus lives in His people by His Holy Spirit; He lives in us to pray for us, because we don’t know how we ought to pray. Romans 8:26 He lives in us to lead and guide us according to the Father’s will. Jesus lives to give us mercy, and grace to help; Jesus lives to feed and nourish His beloved brethren, and to be their strength in the day of battle.

Tomorrow, the Father and Jesus are going to live with us forever in that beautiful city of New Jerusalem. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow!
