I have been struggling with Osteoporosis for a few years. Yesterday I had another DEXA Scan and the results are frightening.

I am 73. There is something called an “Age match” which is done by calculating many numbers from the scan.

The report says that the Age Match for my hip and spine is 99 years old. That’s the ‘overall’ match. Some parts of my hip and spine place me at 111 years!

Tim will be pushing me in a transport chair when we are out for safety sake. I am supposed to take walks in the neighborhood. I’ll never do this alone.  We purchased a hip protecter which velcros around the waste.

I have refused Fosamax and its sister drugs. These drugs can be very dangerous. They can cause bone necrosis in the jaw – “jaw death.” I know that when I see my endocrinologist, he will insist that I take one of those drugs orally or by infusion.

I am hoping that he does not say that he can’t see me if I don’t take the nasty drugs.

  3. Please if unaware, do not take calcium supplements. That makes it worse. Doctors are on both sides of this. Can’t do tons of info here but magnesium and other minerals needed, and not calcium in most cases. Our bodies need balance and sometimes abundance or lack of an item is actually abundance or lack of a different item. Do your own research.

    … you COULD take Boron supplement… I had it before replacement hip surgery in 2017, and the only thing was a bitchy “what the devil have you been taking… it is very hard on my saw!”… I kept it a secret…

      I agree, Boron is very helpful! I hope you try it, Geri. And like someone else said, D3 with K2 helps the calcium get to the correct place in your body/bones. Lifting you up in prayer!

    Will ask the Lord to send u to docs that know what to prescribe that actually helps u.
    May the Lord bless u & keep u & make His face to shine upon u & give u peace now & forever. He will continue to bless u as being saved is not conditional & strength to cope with whatever comes along. He knows u intimately & is aware of ur health issues….after all the hairs on ur head are numbered. Will keep u lifted up.

    I take vitamin K2. It doesn’t seem to be doing any harm. My mom died last Monday at age 98. She’d broken her arm, then her leg and her pelvis over the years due to osteoporosis. You are in my prayers Geri. You are taking more precautions than Mom did. With God all things are possible.

    Praying for you Geri. My wife was diagnosed with Osteoporosis from a DEXA scan 3 years ago. Her doctor told her to start taking a product called “BoneUp.” We ordered it from Amazon. After a year on that, a new DEXA scan showed nothing wrong. Her doctor told her she had helped numerous nursing home patients with the “BoneUp.” 🙏🙏 for you.

    1. 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with Hyperparathyroidism. Then testing showed that I had a growth (adenoma) on one of my parathyroids. My Endocrinologist dragged his feet about insisting I have the surgery to remove that parathyroid – he left it up to me. Now I see that I should have had that surgery in 2022. NOTHING will help my bones except for the surgery.

      I have a great Endocrine surgeon whom I contacted this morning. I am having the radiology place send my Dexa Scan findings to this doctor and hopefully have the much needed surgery within the next two months. Prayers are so appreciated!
