Researchers: AI-Generated Spam Bots Are Flooding Social Media, Scamming Humans

From breitbart.com

A recent study by Indiana University researchers reveals a surge in AI-generated spam bots on social media platforms, particularly exploiting OpenAI’s ChatGPT to promote scams and degrade online information quality.

Business Insider reports that researchers at Indiana University have uncovered a disturbing trend — the proliferation of AI-generated spam bots on social media platforms. The study found that over 1,000 such bots were active on Twitter/X. These bots are part of larger networks, commonly referred to as “botnets,” which have been designed to evade current anti-spam measures. According to researchers, bot accounts try to persuade individuals to invest in fraudulent cryptocurrencies and may even pilfer from their current crypto wallets.

While AI has been hailed for its potential to revolutionize various sectors, its darker side is becoming increasingly evident. “New AI tools further lower the cost to generate false but credible content at scale, defeating the already weak moderation defenses of social-media platforms,” said Filippo Menczer, a computer-science professor involved in the study. The bots not only promote fraudulent investments but also contribute to the degradation of the quality of online information.

Regulators are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the rapid advancements in AI technology. Current AI content detectors, such as ZeroGPT and the OpenAI AI Text Classifier, have proven to be unreliable. Wei Xu, a computer science professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, has cautioned that without proper regulation, bad actors will continue to stay ahead of those attempting to stop AI-generated content creation due to the availability of more incentives and lower costs.

Breitbart News previously reported on problems with AI detectors, including baseless accusations against foreign students:

Turnitin ended up labeling more than 90 percent of the paper as AI-generated, so Hahn set up a meeting to question the student about their paper.“This student, immediately, without prior notice that this was an AI concern, they showed me drafts, PDFs with highlighter over them,” Hahn recalled of his meeting with the student. The professor, therefore, was convinced that Turnitin’s AI-catching tool had made a mistake.

The study raises concerns about the future integrity of online information. “The advancement of AI tools will distort the idea of online information permanently,” said Kai-Cheng Yang, a computational social science researcher involved in the study. As AI-generated content becomes more sophisticated, distinguishing between genuine and fake information will become increasingly challenging for the average internet user.Read more at Business Insider here.

Kentucky School Districts Cancel Classes Weeks into Year Amid COVID, Flu and Strep Outbreaks

Here we go………

From nypost.com

Multiple Kentucky school districts were forced to cancel classes weeks into the school year after outbreaks of COVID, the flu and strep sent both students and staff home sick — as health officials warn of a possible “tripledemic” this fall.

Even though classes only began Aug. 9 for students in the Lee County School District, Superintendent Earl Ray Schuler noticed a sharp decrease in attendance just a week into the year — when 150 of the district’s nearly 900 students called in sick on Aug. 18.

By the following Monday, the number of absences rose to 157, and 14 staff members also called out of work sick, Scripps News Lexington reported.

The district found that COVID, the flu and strep were the culprits — and canceled classes across all schools both Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Thursday and Friday would go on as remote learning days, and extracurricular activities were canceled for the entire week to allow for cleaning, Schuler said.

“All buildings and buses [are] being sanitized, and all student activities for the remainder of the week were canceled,” Schuler said, adding that school will be back in session on Monday.

Scott Lockard, the public health director for the Kentucky River District noted the region has been seeing an intense uptick in COVID cases.

“In Lee County, the attendance is at that level where they felt they needed to make the call to dismiss classes the rest of the week,” he noted.

About an hour east, schools in Magoffin County also shut down this week due to “widespread illness.”

“We were seeing an uptick of absentees. They were saying COVID, but they were also putting strep throat in there, and there was a virus going around, a stomach virus,” Magoffin County Health Department Director Pete Shepherd told WKYT.

Shepherd said it first began as a combination of illnesses, but now COVID is the main cause of illness in the district, where there were at least 40 confirmed cases this week.

“The last month before school, we hardly gave out any home tests. We started giving them out again, and we can’t get them fast enough to give them out,” Shepherd said.

While the typical flu season starts in October, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has already started tracking cases — and has warned about a potential “tripledemic,” in which RSV, the flu and COVID variants might spread together hitting this fall.

In addition to the flu virus and the most recent COVID mutant (EG.5 or Eris), health officials have cautioned people about the deadly spread of respiratory syncytial virus.

“RSV results in around 14,000 deaths among older adults annually,” Dr. Eric Cioè-Peña, vice president of global health for Northwell Health, told The Post on Wednesday.

“RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia in children under 1 year old. It can result in hospitalization and even death in severe cases,” Cioè-Peña added.

“For adults over 65, RSV usually causes moderate cold-like symptoms but can also lead to severe respiratory illness, exacerbated underlying conditions and death.”There are two FDA-approved vaccines to treat RSV that are now available for adults over the age of 60, one of which is also approved for pregnant women to protect their newborns from RSV.

Along with the latest COVID variant and surges in the flu virus, Cioè-Peña said seeing a “tripledemic” could be possible this fall. “These vaccines are game-changers,” Cioè-Peña added. “Don’t wait until it’s too late and you are already seriously sick with one of these respiratory viruses to wish that you or your loved one got vaccinated. source

Brethren, they are ruling by Fear once again. I beg you NOT to get ANY Jabs!! And fight for your child to not have to wear masks – it is proven that the masks make people sick!!!

Remember when you see “Health Officials” they are actually Globalists!

Wagner Boss’s Plane Was Deliberately Downed, US Officials Believe

Vladimir Putin was quoted as saying “He was a talented man who made mistakes”

……….so I blew him up. (Ok, I added the last part).

From freebeacon.com

U.S. officials told media outlets on Thursday that they believe the plane presumed to be carrying mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin was deliberately taken down, though there was some disagreement as to how exactly the plane was destroyed.

Russian air authorities have said Prigozhin, his right-hand man Dmitry Utkin, and eight other people were on the private plane that crashed with no survivors north of Moscow on Wednesday.

Two U.S. officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Reuters that it was likely a surface-to-air missile originating from inside Russia shot down the plane.

The officials stressed that the information was still preliminary and under review, and did not rule out a change to the assessment.

The Wall Street Journal on Thursday reported a different theory: Officials told the outlet a bomb aboard the aircraft or some other sabotage caused the crash.

The New York Times reported a similar assessment from U.S. and Western officials, who said the leading theory is that an explosion on board the plane took it down. They said the explosion could have been caused by a bomb planted on the plane or by adulterated fuel.

It is not uncommon for there to be competing, even contradictory, intelligence views in the U.S. government in the hours and days after major international events.

A third U.S. official told Reuters that there were a number of theories and no definitive conclusion had been reached.

The crash came two months to the day after Prigozhin and his Wagner mercenaries staged a mutiny in which they took control of a southern city and advanced toward Moscow, shooting down a number of Russian Air Force planes and killing their pilots.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday said he was not surprised by reports that Prigozhin had died in a plane crash, adding that not much happens in Russia that President Vladimir Putin was not behind.

Putin on Thursday said he wished to express sincere condolences to the families of those who died in the crash and said it was necessary to await the outcome of the official investigation. Prigozhin, 62, head of the Wagner mercenary group, frequently criticized the Russian army top brass over what he said was its incompetent execution of the war in Ukraine.

The Embraer executive jet model that crashed in Russia had only recorded one accident in more than 20 years of service, and that was not related to mechanical failure.

While portraying it as a purely private commercial operation, the Kremlin has used Wagner to expand Russian influence on the continent in competition with Western powers such as France and the United States.

Prigozhin and a Russian company he controlled were indicted in 2018 and accused of funding a propaganda operation to meddle in the 2016 U.S. presidential election to sway it in favor of Republican candidate Donald Trump and to disparage rival Hillary Clinton.

Did the leader of the Neo Nazi Wagner group (Prigozhin) really think that Putin would allow him to carry on as if nothing had happened in Moscow? The world was watching and we kept hearing that word “Coup” and “Kremlin” used in the same sentence.

And then we heard that the Wagner fighters and their leaders were given safe haven in Belarus. That’s when I knew that the punishment would come.

It was when – not if…

Putin prefers his revenge served up cold……
