My husband and I have stayed away from HBO since we were married, realizing that nearly everything on there was rated R or worse. That’s why it shocked me that parents had to be warned to keep their teens away from HBO!

Warning: Please be advised, the following article contains graphic sexual content.
Young children should not have to carry the burden of — not merely adult sexuality — but the kind of twisted, perverted, and frankly, toxic version of adult sexuality being thrown at them by billion-dollar corporations like HBO.
HBO’s “Euphoria” — one of the most harmful shows for teens ever streamed into homes and mobile devices — is now trying to be outdone by “The Idol.” Both programs are created by Sam Levinson, who was tasked by HBO to make “The Idol” into “Euphoria” on steroids.
HBO arrogantly boasts — yes, boasts — that “The Idol” was created by “sick and twisted minds” to tell the “sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood.” TV critics have slammed “The Idol,” citing it as “pornographic,” a “sordid male fantasy,” a “darker, crazier, and more risqué version” of HBO’s Euphoria. But predictably, “The Idol” offers a horribly corrupted view of “love,” putting its lead character, pop princess Jocelyn, in abusive sexual situations and attempting to paint these as normal.
Variety described one such scene from the second episode:
“Meanwhile, Jocelyn and Tedros are in the bedroom, where he is directing her to perform sexual acts on herself while he’s sitting in a chair, narrating his fantasy experience. (“I want to grab you by the *ss while I suffocate you with my c*ck. I want you to choke on it.”).
The scene is filled with explicit nudity, sexual dialogue and some X-rated foley work when Jocelyn audibly gags while performing o*** s** on Tedros. Meanwhile, there’s also an element of voyeurism when one of the cult followers, the mostly-nude pianist Chloe (Suzanna Son), gets stuck in the closet and watches Jocelyn and Tedros’ activities.”
In the third episode, when Jocelyn reveals that her mother used to abuse her by beating her with a hairbrush, Tedros (her boyfriend/music producer/cult leader) suggests that she turn that trauma into inspiration and proceeds to beat her with a hairbrush.
Torture porn. Trauma porn. Whatever you want to call it, this is the dark and depraved material that’s being promoted to children and teens, who are already suffering mental health issues at an exponential rate.
GQ aptly summed up what might be the entire point of the series so far: “In ‘The Idol,’ the point is the pain.”
HBO is predictably marketing “The Idol” to youth on social media. Videos tagged with #theidol on TikTok — one of the most popular social media sites with tweens and teens — have racked-up more than 1.2 billion views. There are more than 120 variations on that hashtag, adding up to millions more views.
Even if children aren’t on social media, they can easily access “The Idol” on the MAX streaming platform, which has wide gaps in its parental “controls” that enable youth to watch “The Idol” and other explicit TV-MA content like Euphoria.
As a society, we have to protect our most vulnerable — our children — which is why families need to be aware of “The Idol,” but also why the ultimate responsibility falls on the entertainment companies like HBO to ensure children aren’t exposed to this kind of content. And HBO is failing in this responsibility. It’s tragic that we are denying children the chance to have a childhood that’s unencumbered by all this unnecessary weight. Source
Brothers and sisters in Christ, I am so sorry to have had to publish this smut, but there was no other way for you see what they are marketing for teens!
PLEASE understand that HBO is not even acceptable for Christian adults!!
COME LORD JESUS – COME QUICKLY!!

I can’t imagine the depravity level of sin after the Rapture. If enough parents would write to Hobo or whomever puts this garbage on, it could bring some changes like at Disney. Why don’t they put on some true historical documentaries instead eulogizing decency?
Have we no love left for even our kids & their welfare?
If the devil can’t kill our kids in the womb or the covid vax or our commie public schools, or suicide thru transgenderism or illicit drugs or tik tok etc for perverts, then Satan can still attack in the private home with more sexualized horse dump. It’s up to parents & citizens to close that door by ceasing their subscriptions & complaining to “high heaven”. Public reaction counts cuz it hurts the bottom line of the smut peddlers.
Maybe the Legion of Decency should be brought back. Us old timers remember when there were real standards of decency especially in movies due to the church’s role in determining such & which society was in general agreement.
I think today’s society still has enough moral sensitivity to make a difference IF they make the effort.
AMEN Dale. As I was reading your comment, I thought about Dennis the Menace – Andy Griffith show – and all the westerns…….etc etc etc. That was a different world!!
You may want to consult Movieguide on anything you’re considering watching.
As I said in the article, Tim and I refuse to have HBO. It’s always been smut. And as far as other movies and shows, we always look at the rating and why it’s rated a certain way.
I couldn’t read through it because of the filth but thank you for bringing it out in the open.
I understand completely
Yes, Geri, thank you for bringing this out in the open. I had no idea…..parents cannot let their guard down for one second.
AMEN!!
There is only one channel on our cable which runs the old stuff. We like Perry Mason (a real life homo) but his script occasionally called for a Proverb & him always doing the right thing, Leave it to Beaver,
Lone Ranger another do-gooder, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers etc etc.
Also there were good comedians which on TV were really funny, used clean language & didn’t mock Jesus. We all could watch it.
One joke I remember was the comedian after commenting on divorce percentages increasing said it didn’t make any difference since 50% of all married people were women anyway. Nobody tells that one anymore.
Family sit coms were scripted as Dad, Mom, bros & sisters not the weird hookups we see now days. We as kids grew up on stuff like Roy’s show ending saying, “May the good Lord take a liken’ to ya.”
That is verboten now.
Me & the wife still watch the good old days stuff. It’s better than barf bags.
And Tim and I watch them all too! We especially like the westerns – Wagon Train – Rawhide – The Rifleman – Have Gun Will Travel – Bonanza – Gunsmoke and so many others!
I watch the reruns of Gun Smoke every day because there isn’t anything else decent on anymore.
I go on YouTube and watch all the prophesy watchers. I get so blessed with Tom Hughes, Brandon Holthouse and many more. Thank God for you American Christians, this Canadian gal is blessed. Love Geri very much and others.
I love you too, dear sis 🙂
I just watched “a little light on the Disney+ National Geographic channel. A wonderfully done rendition of the Ann Frank story.
No cable here. I’ve watched all the Westerns & others you mentioned in my childhood over again, plus I Love Lucy reruns, Carol Burnett, and the old movies. Also liked The Untouchables reruns, where the Mob was relentlessly pursued by the good Feds, back in the day. This world is now truly not my home.
Awesome!! Tim and I are making a list!!
