GOP Rep Will Boycott Biden SOTU Address: Will Not ‘Listen to Him Continue to Lie’

Although the speaker of the House is of a different political party than the president, there’s been little concern about the speaker tearing up a copy of the President Joe Biden’s Tuesday State of the Union address.
That’s been done before, of course, in Nancy Pelosi’s reaction to the 2020 SOTU address by President Donald Trump.
Speaker Pelosi’s public display of disgust was actually a vulgar expression of disrespect toward the office of the president, the House over which she was speaker and the American people.
Nobody expects the new Republican speaker, Kevin McCarthy, to do that.
But Republican Rep. Mary Miller of Illinois is expressing dissent in somewhat of a private way, according to a report by Breitbart.
She said she was just not going to show up for the State of the Union address.
That spares her from the embarrassing spectacle of watching Democrats continually applauding and giving standing ovations of affirmation to specific statements by Biden while Republican sit on their hands.
Of course, that’s all political theater, and it’s how SOTU sessions are conducted — cheer on your guy when you agree, sulk when you don’t.
But, according to Miller, the real reason for her absences is because Biden continually lies.
“I will not be attending. I do not plan to show up to and listen to him continue to lie,” she said.
“I’m not going to sit there and listen to him lie and then watch the media and other members of Congress applaud him [and] his lies,” Miller said.
And in listing Biden’s lies, she was very specific.
“Whether it’s the border, claiming that our border is secure while we are being invaded. We — by the time his presidency is over, we could have 12 to 14 million terrorists, fentanyl dealers, child traffickers and an entire welfare state entering our country,” according to Miller.
“He’s lied about our energy prices, saying he supports gas and energy when on day one he canceled the Keystone Pipeline, and his EPA is targeting American energy producers. I mean, I could go on and on with his lies.”
Miller is in her second term representing Illinois House District 15, a traditionally Republican district in the state’s center.
On Twitter, where she regularly posts Scripture quotations, Miller describes herself as a “mother of seven, grandmother of 19” and a farmer standing for “Family, Faith, & Freedom.”
In summary, Thiessen said Biden falsely
- Represented events in the life story of a British politician as his own
- Claimed to be the first in his family to go to college
- Said he had three college degrees
- Claimed to have received an outstanding student award
- Said he finished in the top half of his law school class
- Claimed to have written numerous law school articles on the right to privacy
- Reported numerous arrests for standing up for the right thing, including civil rights, and for sneaking into a women’s dormitory in college and sneaking into the U.S. Capitol
- Said he was arrested in South Africa for trying to visit Nelson Mandela in prison
- Claimed to have been in serious danger in war zones
- Said he met with Communist China leader Deng Xiaoping, resulting in China joining the 2016 Paris climate accord — even though Deng died in 1997
- Claimed 17,000 miles of travel with China’s president, Xi Jinping
- Said he passed student loan forgiveness, although Congress never approved it
- Claimed he substantially cut the federal debt and that real incomes have increased.
Here at the Western Journal, we’ve also noted Biden’s tendency to lie. About his beloved Amtrak, for instance. And his administration’s terrible policies on energy. Or how many times he’s been to international hot spots.
What’s more, legacy media just goes along with the falsehoods.
With that kind of record on the part of Biden, is it any wonder why Rep. Miller decided to stay home? And lest her tickets to the event go to waste, she’s giving them to a colonel who had to retire to avoid taking the COVID vaccine. Source

Here’s How To Survive Biden’s State Of The Union

Such a smash success has Joe Biden’s presidency been so far that even the Chinese are sending up balloons. That’s more or less what Biden will say, over and over, during his State of the Union address on Tuesday.
The economy is humming. Inflation is cooling. Electric vehicle sales are raging. There has never been a more orderly southern border.
It will all sound very scary to viewers who will rightly begin to question their own sanity. Or perhaps it will make you feel like everyone else is getting ahead while you’re inexplicably falling behind.
Don’t panic. When confronted with these anxieties, there are steps you can take to re-ground yourself in reality. For instance, when Biden says something confusing — something like, “Folks! Energy costs are down, folks!” — remember to yourself that this is a lie. As of Monday, national gas prices averaged higher per gallon than a year before. It’s more than a dollar per gallon higher than it was in January 2021, the month Biden was inaugurated.
Biden will likely also mention “steps” he has taken to control the unabated flow of hundreds of thousands of destitute migrants from Latin America and the Caribbean. In that stupefying moment, take a deep breath and refer to this chart maintained by Biden’s own administration, showing that December had the highest number of illegal aliens encountered by border agents — ever. That month, there were more than 250,000 migrants who unlawfully crossed into the U.S. The month before, almost 235,000. That’s nearly half a million migrants throwing themselves into the care of the American taxpayer in just two months’ time. They openly say they’re here because of Biden.
Democrat congressmen will leap to their feet and clap with ferocity when Biden says inflation is down. (Or even that higher prices are actually a great thing!) He might even say costs increased less than 6 percent from this time last year. If you feel a spinning sensation, close your eyes, count to 10, then look at this data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The less-than-6 stat is if you exclude food and energy prices.
In other words, if you don’t account for the things you depend on to survive, inflation really isn’t that bad! By itself, food cost is actually up more than 10 percent. It’s probably close to 12 — and maybe much more. Energy is up more than 7 percent. Mind you, this has been a year of rising costs, where each month it’s been more expensive to simply live than it was the same time a year before.
Biden’s vertigo-inducing speech will surely go on for what feels like an eternity, earning applause for assertions that are the exact opposite of reality. But remember, this too shall pass. Source

Here’s Everything Biden Won’t Tell You About The Disastrous State Of Our Union
Biden has done nothing but subject Americans to more crippling crises that prompt historic levels of disapproval.
The state of our union is a complete, unmitigated disaster.
The economy is in shambles, the border is two years into the worst migrant influx in U.S. history, taxpayer dollars are flying into the hands of a corrupt Eastern European regime without oversight, and our No. 1 enemy — Red China — has compromised our president, our politicians, our phones, and our skies.
Much as he did in his lie-riddled speech last year, President Joe Biden will likely try to use his State of the Union address to Congress this week to credit himself for helping the nation back onto its feet. In reality, he’s done nothing but subject Americans to more crippling crises that prompt historic levels of disapproval.
In an unprecedented “level of sustained pessimism,” 71 percent of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track. Four in 10 Americans, the most in 37 years, told ABC News/Washington Post pollsters they have become financially worse off since Biden took office in January of 2021.
In the last few months, even Democrats have turned on their party leader after seeing his incompetence. Following the 2022 midterm elections, 52 percent of Democrats expressed a desire for Biden to seek reelection in 2024. Days before his address, support for a second Biden term fell to 37 percent among the president’s key voting bloc.
Polls may be a flawed means for gauging the public’s reaction but even without them, it isn’t difficult to see that the Biden regime is an absolute embarrassment from top to bottom.
Here’s what Biden will conveniently fail to mention in Tuesday night’s address.
The Economy Is Not ‘Roaring Back’
Biden will likely spend a good portion of his speech boasting that financial legislation such as the ill-named Inflation Reduction Act passed by the Democrat-controlled Congress is restoring American jobs, wages, and savings and causing inflation to “fall.”
Yet, two years after the president greenlit the beginning of Democrats’ expensive spending spree, Americans are still suffering from gas prices well above $3 per gallon, being gaslit about how Biden didn’t induce a recession, and paying 60 percent more for eggs than they did in 2021.
In 2022 alone, U.S. households lost $6.8 trillion in wealth thanks to record-high inflation that isn’t going away, crashing stocks, and a teetering housing market.
No matter which way Biden, the “experts,” or the corporate media try to spin it, the economy and Americans’ pocketbooks are not roaring back as Biden told Congress they would last year.
The Border Is Getting Worse
One year after he removed the border protections his predecessor enacted, Biden told Congress in his 2022 SOTU address that he wanted to “secure our border.”
If history tells us anything, Biden’s 2023 SOTU speech will point to his trip and the new border crossing loopholes he created as “proof” that he’s finally doing something about the millions of illegal border crossers flooding into the United States.
But Biden’s plan to grant “legal” status to illegal border crossers from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela so long as they fly to a port of entry in the U.S. only emboldens corrupt cartels and does nothing to stop the pipeline of fentanyl responsible for taking American lives.
The U.S. Isn’t Tough on China
Biden’s speechwriters will probably credit the downing of Red China’s spy balloon, which completed its mission before it was shot down, as a symbol of the administration’s toughness on our nation’s No. 1 competitor.
What they won’t likely mention is that Biden sold oil from our emergency reserves to his son’s friends at a Chinese state-controlled gas giant before pushing the Saudis into an amicable relationship with the CCP.
Biden may have agreed to ban TikTok from government devices, but that won’t stop House Republicans from getting to the bottom of his family’s financial connections to Red China.
Biden Is Under Investigation for His Failures
Not only will Biden skip over his failures, but you can also expect him to pretend he’s not under investigation by congressional Republicans for various derelictions of duty including failing to secure the border, weaponizing the federal government against its political enemies, and harboring classified documents from his time as a senator and vice president.
Ukraine Is a Taxpayer-Funded Money Pit
Biden opened his 2022 SOTU with a tribute to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a promise that the U.S. would keep providing support to the Ukrainians in their fight for freedom.
One year and approximately $113 billion U.S. taxpayer dollars later, there is no end to the conflict in sight. Nothing is guaranteed other than Biden’s repeated promise to funnel American tax dollars to Ukraine for “as long as it takes” to stave off Russia.
Instead of ending the conflict, Biden’s overeagerness to get involved in a proxy war Congress hasn’t formally authorized the U.S. to participate in has just increased the threat of nuclear war.
Biden Is No Moderate
Biden spent a good portion of his 2022 SOTU masquerading as a social moderate who wanted to “secure the border” and “fund the police” instead of discuss identity politics.
As evidenced by another year of radical policies and actions like weaponizing the Department of Justice against law-abiding, pro-life Americans such as the recently acquitted Mark Houck and the former president, the Biden administration is far from abstaining from the culture war.
Since this is the first SOTU since the Supreme Court’s landmark Dobbs v. Jackson case, Biden will likely use his speech as a platform to push for abortion on demand throughout all nine months of pregnancy. He might even discuss his administration’s attempts to push back on states that ban mutilative transgender surgeries.
…and He’s Certainly No Unifier
Favorable corporate media coverage predicts that Biden will use his address on Tuesday to call for a “fresh start” and bipartisan cooperation between the GOP-controlled House and Democrat-run Senate. Biden wants to look like he’s Mr. Nice Guy by giving the other side of the aisle a chance to work with him.
But the few times Biden gave formal addresses in 2022, he demonized the half of the country that didn’t vote for him and tried to criminalize the conservative agenda ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. He has no tolerance for House Republicans and certainly has no tolerance for the voters and values those legislators represent.
Simply put, Biden’s track record is indefensibly terrible. It shouldn’t be hard for viewers to look past his inevitable gaffes to see this SOTU will be another unremarkable speech littered with lies and failed promises. Source
