Military Will Likely Move on Chinese Surveillance Balloon Within Hours: Report

The Federal Aviation Administration on Saturday issued a temporary flight restriction off the coast of South Carolina banning airplanes from flying through the restricted area.
The action was interpreted to mean that the U.S. military is set to shoot down a Chinese balloon that drifted southeast across America this week.
Throughout Saturday, reports of balloon sightings came from North Carolina and South Carolina.
Over in York County, South Carolina, officials warned residents not to try to shoot the balloon.
Most weapons systems “weren’t designed to shoot down things operating at the kinds of high altitude balloons can operate at,” said Brynn Tannehill, a former naval aviator and senior technical analyst at the RAND Corporation think tank.
An F-22 has a normal range of up to 50,000 feet, which would put it about 10,000 feet below the balloon, she said.
And missile systems “aren’t designed to attack balloons because balloons don’t look like the kind of valid targets that they were designed to attack,” she explained.
“It’s very difficult with what we have because what we have was not meant to shoot down balloons.”
On Friday, U.S. officials said a second balloon was flying over Latin America. According to CNN, reports have come in during the week of a balloon flying over Costa Rica and Colombia. Source
Folks, I can only speak for myself, but I think that we are being fed a boatload of malarkey! These commentators are painting the CCP as a political system which would not cause us harm. That’s RIDICULOUS! At one point, one of the men says that perhaps when this is over, the CCP will retaliate in some way.

President Biden on Saturday broke his silence on the Chinese spy balloon has been spotted making its way across the country, most recently in North Carolina.
Asked if the U.S. government will shoot down the surveillance aircraft, Biden said, “we’re gonna take care of it.”
The Chinese surveillance device was seen hovering above Charlotte, North Carolina, around 10:30 a.m. ET Saturday.
The updated location of the suspected surveillance device comes after Defense Department spokesman Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said Friday that the balloon, which China claims is a civilian reconnaissance airship that inadvertently drifted off course, had “changed its course” and moved to the central part of the country.

Photos shared Friday evening by the National Weather Service in Kansas City, Missouri, showed what appeared to be the balloon, which was first reported to be hovering over Montana, visible from its office in Pleasant Hill that appeared to be headed southeast. “We have confirmed that it is not an NWS weather balloon,” NWS Kansas City said.
The Pentagon announced that the U.S. was tracking the balloon as it made its way across the U.S. on Thursday, when it was hovering over Montana.

Senior State and Defense Department officials have called the balloon’s presence in U.S. airspace an “unacceptable” violation of United States Sovereignty. Secretary of State Antony Blinken indefinitely postponed a trip to China to meet President Xi Jinping in these circumstances.
Republicans, including Missouri Gov. Mike Parson and Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte, have demanded that Biden shoot the balloon down and accused the president of being weak towards China.
Several U.S. officials have cautioned that the balloon is flying at 60,000 ft., is roughly the size of three greyhound buses and is carrying heavy surveillance equipment – they say shooting it down could cause American civilian casualties on the ground.
Biden was briefed on the situation earlier this week and asked for military options to deal with the balloon. He may order the balloon shot down once it becomes safe to do so. Source
Brethren, there are too many contridictions coming out of the White House – as usual. As I said in a prior post, I believe that O’Biden and his cohorts are in lockstep with the CCP. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
