On Thursday night, 600 Jewish men from the tribe of Levi held a rehearsal on the steps leading up to the Temple Mount to prepare to play their role in providing the musical accompaniment for the Third Temple service.
Israel365 News correspondent Joshua Wander spoke with Yitzchak Weiss, who arranged the music and is one of the organizers of the event or, in his own words, “the father of this idea.”
“The idea is to bring back the singing of the Levites and to renew it,” Weis said.
He explained that the idea first came to him when he was the principal of the Mizmor music school in Givat Washington. The school was opened in 2010 for the purpose of developing higher learning in music for Observant Jews.
“I wanted to make something special for Jewish music, not just to learn music to be a singer” eiss explained. “I asked myself what is the essence, the plus that we can give to music. We thought about composing music to the text of the Bible that the Levites were singing in the Temple and to make [comtemporary] music for it. We started the project, giving some students to compose music. And then we thought, why shouldn’t we make a living choir.”
The school began to spread the word in order to gather a group of Levites. In the Bible, the tribe of Levi included Moses and Aaron. Kohanim (priests) are descendants of Aaron and his descendants became a subset of the tribe of Levi. The other members of the tribe were chosen by God to forfeit their portions of land in Israel and to serve in the Temple. The Levites performed various functions in the Temple including guarding as well a serving all the musical needs.
Jewish communities are scrupulous about perpetuating the status of the Levites which is passed from father to son. Only Jewish men whose fathers were Levites are considered eligible. They are recognized for conspicuous honors in religious services and their status as Levites is inscribed on their gravestones.
Weiss noted that gathering together a group of Levites for such an undertaking was quite difficult since they represent only about 4% of the Jewish population.
“We realized that if we held rehearsals in one place, people would have to come from far away,” Weiss said. “We understood that we had to develop a larger list of Levites. So in 2019, we decided to do a massive singing event for Levites.”
About 300 Levites came to that event.
“We wanted to make a choir but then the Corona came,” Weiss said. The event on Thursday was the first post-pandemic rehearsal for the Levites, bringing together about 600 men to practice a medley from the Hallel service composed of Psalms 113-118 which is recited on major and minor festivals.
“I believe the Third Temple is about unity and the ingathering of the exiles,” Weiss said. “So the music itself is from the East and the West, from all types of congregations and traditions. Also the instruments. We have piano and drums and cello, but we also have a qanun, [a type of Middle Eastern zither], and an oud, [a Middle Eastern lute]. These are representative of the instruments that were in the Temple. There was a brass section, wind instruments, stringed instruments, and percussion.”
The participating Levites were divided into three separate choral groups to practice their parts, after which they all came together to perform with instrumental accompaniment.
“This is not theory or practical,” Weiss said. “This is tradition. We are bringing back Levites singing. I don’t know if that is the way it is going to be in the Third Temple. But for 2,000 years, the Levites didn’t sing.”
Weiss mentioned the tradition that the Levites wash the hands of the Kohanim before they bless the congregation during prayer.
“That’s all the Levites did for the past 2,000 years,,” Weiss said. “I am bringing back the context for being a Levite. That’s my vision.”
Weiss emphasized that he is not a Levite, underscoring the selflessness of his efforts.
“But I want to be,” he added. “But it is too late for me.”
The event was co-sponsored by the Jerusalem municipality.
“That is an important detail,” Wander noted. “The municipal government is helping to prepare for the Third Temple.”
In the days that the Temples stood in Jerusalem, the Levites sang on the 15 steps— corresponding to the 15 Songs of Ascent in Psalms15 —that led from the Ezrat Nashim (“Court of Women”) to the Ezrat Yisrael(“Court of Israelites”). The Mishna states that there were never less than 12 Levites standing on the platform, but their number could be increased indefinitely. While ordinarily no minor was permitted to enter the Azarah (“Courtyard”) to take part in the service, the young Levites were permitted to join in the singing when the adult Levites stood up to sing. Bill Gates is now breeding 30 million bacteria-infected mosquitoes per week in a factory in Colombia and he is threatening to “scale and deliver” the mosquitos to “communities around the world.”
The Microsoft founder and self-appointed World Health Czar has spent $185 million so far in setting up the mosquito factory as part of his World Mosquito Program (WMP).
The stated goal of the project? To use the mosquitos — which are infected with a bacteria that causes infertility — to target native mosquito populations that supposedly cause dengue, zika, and other viral infections in humans.
Gates—who’s been lambasted by Indian Parliament for unethical “cervical cancer vaccine” trials, posted the video below to his YouTube channel. In the video description Gates gives the broad strokes of how the WMP operation in Medellín — the featured locale for the marketing ploy — breeds mosquitos purposefully infected with the bacteria Wolbachia and then releases them “across the country to breed with wild mosquitos that can carry dengue and other viruses threatening to sicken and kill the population.”

This is a good thing according to Gates and WMP because Wolbachia—supposedly—helps to diminish the amount of virus in a given mosquito population. (In Colombia, the target viruses are Zika, chikungunya, dengue, etc. In the ten other countries which the WMP is unleashing its bacteria-laden mosquitoes—including Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Australia, Fiji, Kiribati, New Caledonia, and Vanuatu—the target diseases largely overlap.) According to WMP, the organization thinks this is the case because its scientists have injected Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes with dengue virus and found that “the virus didn’t grow well in the mosquito.” The WMP video goes on to note that if the virus “can’t grow, it can’t be transmitted to other people.”
In his post explaining WMP’s efforts on Gates Notes, the former Microsoft CEO highlights a pair of studies supposedly showing the strategy working to prevent diseases. He references one randomized controlled trial (RCT) from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, which claims to have found a reduction in the number of dengue cases in the city by 77% and dengue hospitalizations by 86%. Gates also touts a newer study from Medellín claiming to show a decline of 89% in dengue cases since Wolbachia mosquitoes started being released in 2015.
“[W]hat’s remarkable about the Wolbachia mosquitoes is that once enough of them are released to offer disease protection, it’s a solution that’s self-sustaining,” Gates says in his post. “Over time, families will be spared the heartbreak of losing loved ones and communities won’t need to spend money on prevention and treatment for these mosquito-borne diseases, freeing up funds for other health priorities,” the multibillionaire adds.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) describes the use of Wolbachia on its website, noting that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “has registered mosquitoes with Wolbachia to evaluate how effective they are in reducing numbers of Ae. aegypti mosquitoes, not other types of mosquitoes.” The CDC adds that “Mosquitoes with Wolbachia are not genetically modified.”
Unfortunately, however, it seems the CDC may either be lying or misinformed regarding its profile on Wolbachia. In its description of the bacteria (excerpted above) the CDC says it “cannot make people or animals (for example, fish, birds, pets) sick.” However, a study in the National Library of Medicine, published in 2010, unequivocally states that “Wolbachia [species] are gram-negative bacteria that infect filarial nematodes, including Dirofilaria immitis, and elicit an inflammatory response in cats and dogs.”
On top of the CDC’s piece of serious misinformation, it should also be noted that the studies Gates’ quotes as showing a decline in dengue seem not to address two key points: amount of actual virus in the native mosquito population, and all-cause mortality. Certainly if there was no decrease in the amount of virus in the native mosquito populations in either of the studies, then the change in hospitalization rates, etc. would be due to another confounding factor. And if there was no effect on all-cause mortality, why bother with the bacteria-infected mosquitoes at all?
Making matters—certainly appear—to be worse is the fact that there doesn’t seem to be extensive study on the effects of Wolbachia on human physiology. WMP doesn’t appear to offer readily robust evidence that Wolbachia doesn’t negatively effect people’s health—specifically their reproductive health considering the effect the bacteria has on mosquitoes—and a large handful of cursory searches on Google Scholar doesn’t turn up anything either.
What is clear from the literature, however—aside from the fact that Wolbachia reportedly elicits an inflammatory response in dogs and cats—is that scientists don’t know how exactly the bacteria causes infertility. Another study available in the National Library of Medicine, published in PNAS in October of 2021, claims that “Many Wolbachia strains manipulate host reproduction, most commonly through cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI),” but that “its mechanisms [of action] remain unknown.”
Worse yet, a study published in The Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences in July of 2008, entitled “Wolbachia in the Inflammatory Pathogenesis of Human Filariasis,” notes that “Filarial nematodes cause some of the most debilitating diseases in tropical medicine [but] Recent studies… have implicated the parasites’ endosymbiotic Wolbachia bacteria, rather than the nematode, as the cause of inflammatory-mediated filarial disease.” The study goes on to say “studies suggest that Wolbachia are the principal cause of acute inflammatory filarial disease [in humans].”
It’s also possible that this technology could be (undoubtedly will be?) abused. This would be especially problematic in regards to the use of so-called gene drives—or a type of genetic engineering technique that relies on CRISPR technology to modify genes so that they don’t follow the typical rules of heredity. According to journalist Jennifer Kahn—featured in the TED Talk immediately above—gene drives, which have been demonstrated to function in mosquito populations already, “are so effective that even an accidental release could change an entire species. And often very quickly.”Khan adds in her TED talk that “a gene drive might not stay confined to… a target species.” And that the technique gives scientists the “ability to change an entire species.”
Khan ends her TED Talk, in part, by asking the question: “Are we Gods now?” To which Bill Gates, as well as many others working on gene-altering technology, probably have a disturbing and delusional answer. Source

The story of Moses lifting up the serpent in the wilderness is a lesson for all to see and learn from. We find Jesus referring to it because it clearly depicts God’s grace in rescuing condemned sinners from death to life. In only a few verses in Numbers 21, we find great sinning against holy God; we see judgment and death falling on the sinners; we see a man approved of God interceding for them, and God answering his prayer and making a way for them to live.
The children of Israel were on their way to the Promised Land, led by Moses. Along the way they became discouraged and began to grumble and complain about how hard the journey was. Then, they developed a hatred for the very bread from heaven that God was providing. Grumbling and complaining starts in the heart and quickly spews from the mouth; it’s a sin God hates and only leads to greater sin.
Their grumbling and complaining, their hatred for God’s manna from heaven was an affront to His goodness and provision for them. The Lord was leading them to a land flowing with milk and honey; He was going to settle them in the most beautiful place on earth. There, He would watch over them, bless them with an abundance of provision and His divine protection. All He asked was for them to trust Him as they travelled through the wilderness, but they didn’t and wouldn’t—they griped and complained!
As a result, “…The Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died.” Numbers 21:6 That brought the people to Moses, acknowledging their sin; they said, “…We have spoken against the Lord and you; pray to the Lord to take away the serpents from us.” So Moses did and the Lord answered his prayer.
The Lord instructed Moses to make a brass serpent and set it on a pole; “…And it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” Numbers 21:8 Moses made it, set it up, and everyone who was bitten and looked at it lived.
Did the brass serpent have the power to give life to anyone? Could a person who was bitten NOT look and live? How easy and simple it was to live after being bitten: just go and look!
Every person that has ever lived, or ever will live has been bitten by the old serpent, the Devil. That bite is the bite of sin and sin brings judgment and death. But God, in great mercy, has come to the rescue of sinners on their way to death and Hell. How easy and simple it is for a sinner to pass from death to life.
The love of God towards sinners cannot be measured. Before we cried out for help from the judgment of death, God came to the rescue. In response to the bite of the serpent, God raised up a life-giving Savior. The Savior was His only begotten Son; and Jesus was lifted up on a tree for all to see. And on that tree, the lord laid on His Son the sin of the world, and then, taking our place, Jesus took on Himself God’s judgment against sin and sinners.
To this very moment, you are reading this column, looking unto Jesus Christ, lifted up and crucified remains the only way for you to go from death into life.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in Him Who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24
