People Need the Lord

Written the night before the Inauguration:

I remember back in the 80’s when Steve Green sang “People Need the Lord.”  I was a new believer – saved in 1983. The lyrics to the song rang true for me.  It made me think back to my life before I met my Savior.  If you haven’t heard the song, I’ll post the video at the end of this piece. Here are the lyrics:

Everyday they pass me by
I can see it in their eyes
Empty people filled with care
Headed who knows where

On they go through private pain
Living fear to fear
Laughter hides their silent cries
Only Jesus hears

People need the Lord, people need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door
People need the Lord, people need the Lord
When will we realize people need the Lord?

We are called to take His light
To a world where wrong seems right
What could be too great a cost
For sharing life with one who’s lost?

Through His love our hearts can feel
All the grief they bear
They must hear the words of life
Only we can share

People need the Lord, people need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door
People need the Lord, people need the Lord
When will we realize that we must give our lives?
For people need the Lord, people need the Lord

The DisruptJ20 Boy

I was watching Fox News tonight and saw something very disturbing.  A boy, probably not more than 9 or 10, had set a fire on the street in D.C. A Fox News reporter walked up to him and asked him why he set the fire. He flippantly answered “Because I can! And I want to say screw  the president!”

I thought to myself that this child was being indoctrinated with hate and rebellion and anarchist ideologies.  This is learned behavior.  At first I felt angry with him. But then my heart broke for him.

We are born into sin. We do not have to be taught to be sinful – that comes naturally; and when the deck is stacked against you and you have parents who are rebels without a cause, your only hope is to meet someone who loves the Lord Jesus – someone who will take the time to say “God loves you and cares about you. He wants you to know Him.”  I pray for that young man that God would bring a Christian into his life.

All People Need the Lord

We had neighbors who lived across the street. They seemed like really good people – always lending a helping hand during a snow storm or in any emergency. They had an adorable little boy and another child on the way. They just looked like the all American family.

My husband had the opportunity to share Christ with Fred (the husband) one day. It was after my husband had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, but then was healed within four weeks after being on the Ketogenic diet. That opened the door for Tim (my husband) to talk about Jesus and Salvation.   That ended our relationship with Fred.  He told Tim that he didn’t believe in that stuff.  And that was that.

There are people who feel that they are “good enough” and do not need God to save them. Actually,  Fred didn’t believe in God at all.

The Bible says:

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Romans 3: 10-12).

The Righteousness of God Demands Perfection

Jesus said  “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).  So, there is Scripture which tells us that there is none righteous; but Jesus told the people to be perfect even as their Father in heaven is perfect.  Sounds like a contradiction, doesn’t it?  But it is not – not at all.

Jesus was beginning to prepare the people for His Crucifixion. He was teaching them that some things seems so impossible, but with God all things are possible. The shedding of the precious blood of the Son of God would pay the penalty for all sin. God, who cannot abide sin, loved us so much; and wanted us reconciled to Him, so He sent His only begotten Son Jesus to pay the debt for our sin – a debt that we could never pay.

And for those of us who repented and placed our trust in Christ for the forgiveness of our sin – He imputed His righteousness to us. Think about that. The Perfect Son of God, the One who had NO sin, took our punishment and then gave us His Righteousness!

What a Glorious God we serve!

Yes, all  people need the Lord.  I don’t know what tomorrow will bring at the Inauguration. I have been praying all day that God would supernaturally protect everyone at this historic event.  Please remember when you see the protestors, that these people need Christ. Pray for them.  Pray for the DisruptJ20 boy. Pray for our new President and Vice President and their families.  Pray that there will be an awakening in America, and that people would thirst and hunger after righteousness.

CNN: Dreaming Up Assassination Scenarios To Keep Obama In White House Is DEPLORABLE

great-again
When I think that CNN can stoop no lower, these fake news reprobates outdo themselves yet again.

As I read their article on the morbid scenarios and how they might play out, I was reminded by the Lord that this is certainly not a fight against flesh and blood:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high place” (Ephesians 6:12).

Good against Evil – God against Satan.  Nothing new under the sun.

CNN: Assassinating Trump Could Keep Obama Administration in Power

As the nation prepares for the peaceful transfer of power on Inauguration Day, CNN is dreaming up scenarios whereby the Obama administration can keep power if President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence were blown up as they prepared to take to oath of office.

On the Wednesday, January 18 broadcast of CNN’s The Situation Room, host Wolf Blitzer aired a segment with a chyron featuring the headline “Developing Now.” During that “developing” segment, Blitzer and correspondent Brian Todd discussed what would happen if the unthinkable occurred on January 20.

Blitzer introduced the segment, saying, “What if an incoming president and his immediate successors were wiped out on day one?” and from there, CNN contributor Brian Todd took over to outline the line of succession if an attack blew up the inaugural dais, killing both Trump and Pence.

The upshot was that in the case of both heads of state being killed, the Secretary of State would take over. Currently that man is Secretary of State John Kerry, But in case some objected because his office would also end as of noon on Inauguration Day, then it would be the Speaker of the House — Republican Paul Ryan — or even Obama’s Under Secretary for Political Affairs Tom Shannon.

The report also noted that the designated survivor appointed by the Obama administration could also become president in the case of a disaster. So, in CNN’s analysis, most of the people who would take over in the worst-case scenario would keep the Obama administration in power, at least indirectly.

So while most of the country is looking to enjoy the day’s events and waiting expectantly to hear what our new president will have to say for his first address as our leader, CNN is wondering what will happen if he is assassinated.

Perhaps CNN is still stuck in anger, the second stage of grief. – source

Guess we found the REAL basket full of deplorables – or at least part of them.

Father God, we ask that You would supernaturally protect Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families today and tomorrow at the Inauguration. We pray that you would thwart any attempt of terrorism or assassination. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
