“Netanyahu needs no urging to invade Rafah’

Journalist Amit Segal explains how the most politically sound move for Netanyahu is to ensure victory over Hamas

CNN interviewed Israeli journalist Amit Segal about the current status of the hostages negotiations.

“Hamas has been demanding one thing that Israel cannot give – the end of the war. That is why I am pessimistic about the negotiations – they understand that they will be finished if the war continues for just six more weeks.”

Regarding the possibility of a ground invasion in Rafah, he started: “It is one of the few points of consensus. Hamas has three assets there – the last five battalions, the smuggling tunnels from Egypt, and their senior officers.”

Segal addressed the international considerations at work: “They call for Israel to give up its security for peace. The Saudis want Hamas destroyed, but the promises of peace are always from Washington and London, not from the Emirates.”

He dismissed the accusations against Netanyahu from within Israel: “Netanyahu needs no threats or urging – I don’t think he is planning to skip Rafah. His best political move right now is to defeat Hamas. The negative opinions of him are mostly based on his humanitarian concessions – he would be more popular if he were more strict about that.”

Segal addressed the recent videos released proving two additional hostages are alive. “The video was released minutes before the invasion of Rafah. Does Hamas have something to hide there?”

He addressed the issue of how long the war has left to go: “Victory won’t happen without Rafah. It’s like the COVID-19 crisis – there won’t be any specific event, but one day, we’ll look at each other and realize it’s over.”

Segal related to rumours about ICC warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders. “There is a good chance the warrants will be issued, and that they will be enforceable even during his state visits. We will keep watching this.”

SURPRISE SURPRISE: Pro-Hamas Agitators on Campus Have a New ‘Demand’

From townhall.com

Last week, it was revealed — to the surprise of no one — that some of the pro-Hamas ‘encampments’ sprouting up across campuses are being funded by deep-pocketed leftists. “George Soros and his hard-left acolytes are paying agitators who are fueling the explosion of radical anti-Israel protests at colleges across the country,” the New York Post reported. “The SJP parent organization has been funded by a network of nonprofits ultimately funded by, among others, Soros, the billionaire left-wing investor.” So-called progressives have tried to pretend that criticizing Soros for his chaos-sowing political donations, of which he says he is proud, is somehow “anti-Semitic.” Many of these same people deny the overt, actual anti-Semitism on parade at Soros-funded hate rallies.  It’s fascinating to see how “brave” these students seem to believe they are, while also trying to avoid any negative ramifications for their behavior.  Part of old school civil disobedience is accepting consequences.  But these people want to cosplay as radicals, including shouting terrorist slogans at the top of their lungs — just without any meaningful risks or downsides.  They’re demanding amnesty, per the Associated Press, which reports sympathetically about these people’s self-created “plight:”

The students’ plight has become a central part of protests, with students and a growing number of faculty demanding their amnesty. At issue is whether universities and law enforcement will clear the charges and withhold other consequences, or whether the suspensions and legal records will follow students into their adult lives…Questions about their academic futures remain. Will they be allowed to take final exams? What about financial aid? Graduation? Columbia says outcomes will be decided at disciplinary hearings, but Alwan says she has not been given a date. “This feels very dystopian,” said Alwan, a comparative literature and society major…For international students facing suspension, there is the added fear of losing their visas, said Radhika Sainath, an attorney with Palestine Legal, which helped a group of Columbia students file a federal civil rights complaint against the school Thursday. It accuses Columbia of not doing enough to address discrimination against Palestinian students. “The level of punishment is not even just draconian, it feels like over-the-top callousness,” Sainath said…More than 40 students were arrested at a Yale demonstration last week, including senior Craig Birckhead-Morton. He is due to graduate May 20 but says the university has not yet told him if his case will be submitted to a disciplinary panel. He worries about whether he will receive a diploma and if his acceptance to Columbia graduate school could be at risk.

“Clear the charges and withhold other consequences.”  No.  It’s remarkable to watch these entitled adult children brazenly violate school policies and break laws, then turn around and insist that none of those actions should hurt them in any way.  Several of the students quoted are now angry at their universities for even leaving them in limbo about the direct results of their own actions.  It’s everyone else’s fault but theirs.  Oh, and pity the poor international students who’ve committed similar violations, rallying in solidarity with murderous terrorists, who now fret they might lose their visas.  I’m skeptical that the current US administration has any appetite whatsoever for expelling such terror-sympathizing or -supporting guests, with no right to remain in the country, but those people shouldhave their visas yanked.  There is no courage or honor in engaging in American activism while demanding privacy, anonymity and amnesty.  But that’s exactly what these brats want:

Sniveling cowards, on behalf of an evil cause.  What a combination.  And yes, these ‘encampments’ are making a habit of trying to stifle press coverage.  They want to publicly protest in private, getting their message out, except in ways they don’t control, occupying and “liberating” land they don’t own.  What lovely, principled, rational people.  One element of their calculus that is rational, however, is their conclusion — contained in shared documents — that they will be able to get away with it.  They determined ahead of time that punishments would be temporary or nonexistent at the institutions they’ve captured, and here’s a good chance they’re right:

The only way to deter this lawless disregard for rules is to enforce the rules, with painful repercussions.  How many of these left-dominated “elite” schools are willing to do that?  In our nation’s capital, a private university tried to enforce its rules, albeit belatedly.  But the DC higher-ups decided they wouldn’t help restore order, even despite the institution’s request.  Why?  Bad optics, they said.  So these are the optics they have instead:

This unfolded after the GW mob decided to expand its footprint, in light of DC’s non-intervention.  They overrode outnumbered officers, piled up the barricades, and chanted in support of the intifada late into the night.  Another ‘no consequences’ lesson learned, with immediate and inevitable fallout.  One of the students quoted in the AP story above whined about how consequences feel “very dystopian” to her.  Perhaps the scenes at George Washington University (and many others elsewhere) feel more than a bit dystopian to Jews on campus, as well as anyone else with common decency, or who doesn’t hate Western civilization.  At Yale, they tore down an American flag from a war memorial, cheering.  At Harvard, they chanted while hoisting a Palestinian flag on central campus, in a space where Old Glory typically flies:

Over at Columbia, where journos have been trying to whitewash the nature of the on-campus mob (as we discussed yesterday), they’re shouting for violence against insufficiently-radical Palestinian leaders — and calling for ethnic cleansing the Jews from Israel’s land.  Understand what we are dealing with:
I’ll leave you with a reminder that not only do these people feel entitled to a lack of punishment for any of their actions, no matter how heinous, many also expect us to pick up the tab for the debt they’ve knowingly incurred to attend these ‘elite’ asylums.  And they really are not sending their best:
These young people are WHINERS & BRATS and would be TERRORISTS!!

COME LORD JESUS!!

From westernjournal.com

Four law enforcement officers were fatally shot early Monday afternoon and four others wounded as they attempted to serve a warrant at a private residence in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A ninth victim, one of the suspected shooters, was also found dead at scene.

Three of the officers killed were members of a U.S. marshals fugitive task forces, including two 14-year veterans of the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, Samuel Poloche and William “Alden” Elliott as well as a U.S. marshal, according to NBC News.

North Carolina Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper wrote on social media that “[o]ur hearts are with the families and co-workers” of the fallen law enforcement officers.

“Our hearts are with the families and co-workers of officers in today’s brutal attack, including two state Department of Adult Correction officers working with the US Marshal’s Task Force who were shot and killed. – RC,” he posted to X.
Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, a Republican who is running to succeed the term-limited Gov. Cooper, expressed similar sentiments on the platform.

“Our hearts ache for the brave law enforcement officers shot in the line of duty today in east Charlotte, including the tragic loss of a Deputy U.S. Marshal,” he wrote shortly after news of the shootings broke. “Our thoughts are with them, their families, and the entire community during this difficult time. We also extend our sincere condolences to everyone who was injured in this violent attack.

“Our office will continue to monitor this ongoing situation as it unfolds,” he added.

Eyer, the CMPD officer killed in the shootout, was named “officer of the month” for April, Police Chief Johnny Jennings said during a news conference.

“It was just last month I was in this very room congratulating Officer Eyer for becoming officer of the month in April,” Jennings said, according to NBC. “And he certainly dedicated his life and gave his life to serve our citizens.”

Eyer was transported to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Suspect Terry Clark Hughes Jr., 39, was found dead at the scene, according to WSOC-TV.

He was wanted on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the outlet, but officers were “met with fire” and shot the suspect when returning fire.

Another suspect then fired upon the task force from inside the home, triggering what WSOC called a “standoff.” Two people later vacated the home and were described by the station as a 17-year-old and a woman. source

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” (Matthew 24:12).

Pray for the families of the fallen officers and for the wounded.

AFTER RIOTERS YELL “COLUMBIA WILL BURN” – Columbia University Locks Down Campus Buildings Following Overnight Mutiny: ‘Effective Immediately’

This is indeed now a ‘riot’ NOT a peaceful protest.

From foxnews.com

The lockdown came as an unruly mob of anti-Israel protesters broke into Hamilton Hall shortly before 1 AM

Columbia University has been forced to close its campus indefinitely after an anti-Israel mob broke into an academic building early Tuesday morning.

In a statement hours after anti-Israel agitators stormed the iconic Hamilton Hall on the Manhattan campus and barricaded its doors, the university said it would remain closed “until circumstances allow otherwise.”

“Effective immediately, access to the Morningside campus has been limited to students residing in residential buildings on campus (Carman, Furnald, John Jay, Hartley, Wallach, East Campus and Wien) and employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, labs and residential student life (for example, Dining, Public Safety, and building maintenance staff). There is no additional access to the Morningside campus,” a statement from the university said.

It added: “This access restriction will remain in place until circumstances allow otherwise.”

Columbia initially confirmed the major escalation and urged students and faculty members to avoid traveling to campus.

“Early this morning, a group of protestors [sic] occupied Hamilton Hall on the Morningside campus,” the school said. “In light of the protest activity on campus, members of the University community who can avoid coming to the Morningside campus today (Tuesday, April 30) should do so; essential personnel should report to work according to university policy. Please check with your supervisor if you have any questions. Be aware that access to campus and other campus buildings may be restricted.”

It added: “We will continue to update you with more information should there be additional changes to campus access today.”

Once inside Hamilton Hall, the mob began “moving metal gates to barricade the doors, blocking entrances with wooden tables and chairs, and zip-tying doors shut,” according to the student newspaper Columbia Spectator.

Footage of the insurrection showed the protesters in New York smashing windows, unfurling a Palestinian flag over a window and chanting: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and “Palestine will live forever.” source

Father in heaven, we pray for law enforcement to keep calm in the midst of this criminal behavior by the ‘students.’ Don’t let this become a ‘Kent State’ from the 1960s. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
